I have copied a single from a disc (ripped it thru wmp) and wanted to add it to my site. Someone suggested to convert it using download. com but that hasnt worked -
This is what he said
Firstly, you should use a program (try download.com) to convert it to .midi or .wav so you don't use all your bandwidth in seconds then upload it
And this is what happened:downloaded and it says copyrighted and couldnt convert
Does anyone know what 2 do next?

do you want to offer it for a download?
then yes that's illegal and you have no rights to do so ..
the songs are probably locked to prevent this from happening :)

In WMP one of the ripping options is to WMA with protection. You can change it so that it rips without the protection, but what Mirna said above is still true.

Try deleting the original ripped files first, it's probably saving them to the same place

The newest version of WMP lets you rip music as MP3s. You have to set it so that it rips as unprotected music, which you have to do under WMA. It's kind of strange, I know. Just a thought.

Another thing to consider is that converting your WMA or MP3 to wav will actually increase the file size, thus negating your friends suggestion of saving bandwidth. As for midi,it is possible to have it be smaller, but I have yet to see any good programs that convert to midi very well. This is a simpler format, think synthesizer. Thus it would come in a smaller file size

I have tried to find the file to delete and its still not letting me rip it again
It keeps going on the next song
Any other suggestions?
