at school: gigabit ethernet connection to the university's network, which has at least an OC-12 (which would make it 622 Mbps) connection (I'm not sure of specifics- it may even be much higher than that)
home: DSL (768k, I think?). I don't even know the exact speed, all I know is that it's fast enough :P

Not sure if it will work for people who don't live in the US.

I've tried using CNET's bandwidth meter at school before, and it's never accurate (it always says somewhere between 56 kbps and 128 kbps- despite the university's insane connection and my ability to download at far greater speeds)- I just tried the speakeasy one and it says:

909 kbps download
3834 kbps upload

that seems more accurate (except for the fact that upload is way higher than download? probably only because most of the network usage is downloading)

and just for the heck of it, a second try:

974 download, 4145 upload

not bad considering that the connection (although ridiculously high bandwidth) is shared by 6,000 resident students downloading who knows what and the computer labs and computer classrooms (faculty and staff are on a different Internet connection, though) :P

Download Speed: 2661 kbps (332.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 273 kbps (34.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

I have no idea, but it's pretty fast. Except that it has this annoying tendency to disconnect itself :eek:
