I usually drink Poland Springs or Aquafina. But since I purchased a Brita filter, I don't really buy bottled water anymore.

I don't really care. If it's the cheapest, I'll buy it.

Oh, and my school stocks Dasani bottles, but it's $1.25 now. :(

Oh man.. I can taste water and tell the difference between the brands right now.. I've been drinking so much bottled water. Right now I drink Nestle and sometimes Sugarloaf. It's definitely not the best, but it's the cheapest. I have a case of 36 bottles right now. Aquafina is my favorite though.

I work for a water treatment company, so the bottled water in our machines is only 25 cents for us. (The company pays the rest) We have both Dasani and Aquafina, but Aquafina is better in my opinion.

I once tried a water experiment. I had several brands of water. I put them in seperate cups and labeled them and then put a blindfold on and tried each one trying to determine which was my favorite flavor. Some were slightly fresher than others. Arrowhead won. Although, I don't really drink that much bottled water. I have a water cooler instead.

I only drink bottled if there's no alternative, but for some reason, we have an enormous Sam's Club thing of bottled water (it is handy, though). At the moment, it's Ice Mountain. I don't like Dasani. I have no idea why.

Dasani does have other things in it- I assumed they don't have a taste, but you never know. the only reason I know that is that my dad can't drink it- he's allergic to whatever it is they put in it or something (some kind of sulfites I think?) :P

It tastes rather chemical-y or mineral-y. Yech. As to what's in it, I have no idea. "Enriched water"...hmph.

For those outside the US, do you have "drinking" water or "mineral" water? Mineral water is the same as spring water here in the states, I think. I remember when I went to Europe, all I could find was mineral water.

I'm not sure what we have because I never drink bottled water, what's wrong with plain old tap water?

what's wrong with plain old tap water?

I drink it anyway (filtered), but mine is blue and smells like chlorine :P

when I moved in I cleaned out the tub, and to rinse it I just filled it up and let it drain- while it was filling I noticed the strange blue color against the white tub, and while showering you can smell chlorine :P

yay for living in an older building- I think they chlorinate the heck out of our water so that we don't get sick from whatever nastiness is in the pipes heh

My friend was stationed in Italy for over a year and he told me that wine is cheaper than water there... Doesn't really have anything to do with this thread but your post reminded me of that =P

Some places have a lot of chemicals in their water that can be bad for you, or in other places it's just really gross... In the city where my cousin lives, they don't drink the tap water because something in the water makes their teeth turn brown... and where my grandparents live, they have well water which smells and tastes absolutely DISGUSTING because of the minerals in it so they also buy water.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but the U.S. crams so many chemicals into the water that it's a wonder we're not sick. Well actually, when you change locations you can get sick - I had a rough time going back and forth from NY to PA for 4 years, because I couldn't get used to the switch in water.

Tap water is awful, because they put stuff like fluoride and chlorine in it because it's "good" for you. Like heck it is.

Huh, nice we can use tap water here. Nothing added to it. Though water in Southern-Estonia doesn't taste as good as in north since there is more iron in it. They even can't use it to wash clothes since after washing nothing is white anymore.
But from bottled waters it is either Bonaqua, Vichy or Evian.

I drink any kind of bottled water. Its all probobly better than our well water, which I drink most of the time.

Fluoride actually is good for your teeth, but chlorine isnt "good" for you. Its used to disinfect water, and hard to remove from the water once its in there. Too much chlorine is actually harmful.

that's assuming you get your water from a public supply- at home we have a well, so there's nothing added to it. but here at school in this particular building anyway, I believe they add chlorine to get rid of any potentially illness-causing stuff in it :P plus I know the city upped the chlorine quantity like crazy a while back because there was a huge water main break, so they increased it to make the water safe even despite the boil water order for that area. thank you Introduction to Environmental Engineering and having a professor that knows the person responsible for the city water supply or something for this wondeful knowledge :P

I usually just drink tap water, because ours comes from springs up in hills in the north of scotland, but when I do drink bottle water, it'll either be evian, vittel or volvic.

I guess we are pretty lucky in the UK then because our tap water is perfectly safe/healthy...at least I hope it is...I drink a few litres of the stuff a day

Fluoride, in the concentrations normally found in tap water, isn't going to be dangerous.
As for the chlorine: yes, there are other ways to kill waterborne bacteria and whatnot (ozone, UV light), but chlorine is by far the cheapest.
Tapwater, generally, is quite safe.

I hate water in general.. actually I most prefer the most non-watery substance you can find, Coke! :D But when I do drink water, it's usually from a water fountain 'cause I'm always at dance when I get tired. When I used to drink water for "fun" I drank Dasani <33

I'm a project engineer on UV disinfection systems. The interesting thing is that UV disinfection doesnt kill the bacteria - it just alters its DNA so that it can't reproduce.

Well for me when i was about 7 we had a brita filter, that filtered the tap water. now we have a tap with a filter in and we just use that... its alot faster... yeh.. so yup if i buy a bottle (not often) il probably get evian and i have drank out of a tap in my highschool ever because i dont trust it. lol.

That's interesting. But then it dies, so...same effect, just different ways.

I believe most bottled waters are regional (except some of the bigger brands that the soda companies are behind- like Dasani)- I know Poland Spring is distributed in New York, and it may be limited to other parts of the northeastern US.

and it's spelled evian- which my intro to environmental engineering professor pointed out today is "naive" backwards- he was talking about tap/public water versus bottled water, like how a 20 oz bottle of water costs around $1.00 where tap water costs between 5 and 7 cents for 1,000 gallons, and that there are stricter regulations on public water systems than bottled water distributors- and that a lot of bottled water is just filtered tap water packaged in a bottle.

I never by regular bottle water. I do, however, buy flavored water. That is only on rear occations, like if it's really hot and I don't walk soda :dead:
