leSharon 09-10-2005, 05:58 AM You know in space? Where everything is and junk? When does it end? Does it just go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on???????????????????????????????????????????????? ?? Isn't that impossible? It has to stop somewhere...Right? If it didn't stop then...nothing would be anything...and anything would be nothing.....and then we'll never be able to discover everything...??? What do you think?
*Jen* 09-10-2005, 07:41 AM Er... I heard it is growing, and one day it will start shrinking.
leSharon 09-10-2005, 10:57 AM Cooooooooooooooooooollll!!!!! :buckt:
that is why there is a restaurant at the end of the universe.

Sphere 09-10-2005, 03:26 PM Interesting to read is the String Theory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory) that says that everything here in this universe is based on strings. even the smallest parts (smaller then quarks (quarks are smaller then elektrons)) are strings that are moving. It also says that our universe is in a string and that there are strings next to us also containing a universe (other dimensions?). I think that because the string is moving that the universe can grow bigger. Its a time ago that i saw a documentary about it so i don't remember everything clear now. Also at CERN in switserland they are trying to shoot parts to eachother in the hope one day they will see a string flying away from it. Its a weird theory huh? :)
Sphere 09-10-2005, 03:36 PM http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/ another interesting site about it.
Douglas 09-10-2005, 04:30 PM well, it probably doesnt end, but that just hurts the head just thinking about it... just like thinking this thing some of my friends were thinking about:
if god made everything who made god?
stuff like that just hurts my head...
also the before you were born.... you cant remember, anything but as far back as you remember so before you were born what were you....
swttooth828 09-10-2005, 04:35 PM if god made everything who made god?
Are you a Christian or not? We've all heard the story, No one made God. He just kinda showed up and, bam!
Monkey Bizzle 09-10-2005, 05:34 PM Are you a Christian or not? We've all heard the story, No one made God. He just kinda showed up and, bam!
That is if you believe in all that of course...
Douglas 09-10-2005, 08:03 PM well im not christian, i wish i could believe in god but i cant, i believe in science, they have proven too much already not to believe them, you show me proof that god exists and ill believe,
short_gurli 09-10-2005, 08:34 PM u cant always trust science. They are not always right. I heard that they are just covering up the big bang in which they knew it was a mistake, so they could have the whole world believe that they are still smart.
Take it like this for example: I have puzzle pieces in a box. And then i shake the box. What do you think will happen? YES! you are right! The pieces are STILL be scattered all over in the box.
My conclusion: you cant just shake up pieces in a box and expect it to come out as a perfect picture with all the picecs fitting together.
My point? you cant just shake up the world in just some "BIG BANG" to have everything in the world so perfect. it takes time to put the pieces together. It takes TIME to make the worle not just some 2 second Bang.
Like the Eye for example. it haves many fluids, going in some direction and presure. It focus all by itself to any certain objust and automatically makes the rest blur out, You CANT do that with Cameras. Your eye is so wide and can soo so many things that it just cant compare to ANY human made object. I mean...how LONG do u think it Was before the humans made Cameras? And simce they eye is so much complex than some technolagy...it must have tooken alteast SOME time to think about it. Not just some "BOOMMM!!!" and it to be prefect. And that is JUST they eye! How about musles...and bones??!! DID those jsut Blow up too?
You need more than just some atoms and an accident to conivice me that i just blew up outa nowhere.
Douglas 09-10-2005, 08:50 PM i didnt say i believed in the big bang theory which is a theory, i think the universe gradually grew over time and is still growing until one day it will shrink and repeat the process forever, as for u you didnt just blow up outa nowhere, you were made by chemical reactions and stuff like that, everything in your body was made by chemical reactions, DNA (deoxyribonucliec acid) is the base of life as well as many other things, but you are right things take time to develop, the big bang theory just says planets and stuff were made like that not life, it took millions of years for the earth to become livable
salomeyasobko 09-10-2005, 08:53 PM i think of the universe as just the background for everything [all the galaxies, solar systems, planets, etc]. it has no beginning and it has no end because the universe is just existance as a whole. that probably makes no sense to anyone but me because i thought about it alot and became content with not really comprehending it fully :P
yeah scientists believe that when the big bang occured, matter was thrown in every direction and it just kept moving and continues to move.. thus the universe continues to expand. but they think the matter might reach a certain point where gravity does not permit it to move anymore and at that point, the universe will implode and become a very tiny "ball" of matter that is so incredibly compact, so tremendously hot inside, and the pressure is so unfathomably high that it'll just explode and send matter flying all over the place [again]. this is just a theory.. that the big bang will happen all over again. but i think it's interesting. but then who knows how many times this'll happen again? and what number in this possible chain of "big bangs" does that make us? maybe it'll just implode into nothingness.. it that's even possible.
whoo it's so interesting :D
Douglas 09-10-2005, 09:00 PM makes ya think huh? i think space is awsome and a great thing to study, to think that for googleplexzin (lol) years life may have existied millions and millions of times
over and over and will continue doing this forever
Rosey 09-10-2005, 09:10 PM one thing i found interesting is that the way scientists say evolution happened is the same way the Bible says it happened.
but i don't know about the universe, i've wondered that but i think some things will just remain a mystery.
my husband knows about a great site where you can view nasa satellite pictures..i'll ask him when he gets home, there are some amazing photos! I've always wanted a HUGE telescope.
Make you feel puny huh?
Douglas 09-10-2005, 09:16 PM well the bible says nothing evolved doesnt it? it was just made over 7 days or something like that?
i think the Darwin thingy is how things came to be, you know with like giraffes:
they were small back millions of years ago, but as all the plants were eaten down low, all the short ones died and the tallest survived so their babies were taller and so on and so on.....
Rosey 09-10-2005, 09:19 PM right, the BIble says God created everything but he didn't create it all in 1 day. There is an order.
the fossil records bother me. On one end the scientists say that evolution is so slow but yet there is no proof in the fossil records and then they said it's because it happened so fast..well, which is it??
I love science, i'm a science major but I don't think they have it all right.

thats confusing :S
Rosey 09-10-2005, 09:31 PM what is?
Douglas 09-10-2005, 09:36 PM ...On one end the scientists say that evolution is so slow but yet there is no proof in the fossil records and then they said it's because it happened so fast..
that they dont make any sense :S
Rosey 09-10-2005, 09:52 PM there is a big debate about "missing links". You know how they say that some animals lived in the water and then grew legs and then became land animals. There is a huge debate about the transition from the sea animal to the land animal. Why aren't fossils found of the in between form? Some people say there is proof, others say there isnt.
Either way, however, what I believe is that God created the earth, how? I don't know. but I don't believe we evolved from apes.
As for proof of God: I couldn't show you proof anymore than you could show me proof of the wind. You can't see the wind, you can't smell it, you can't taste it but you know it's there because of the effect it has on things, the trees, hair...etc...It's the same with God, for someone who doesn't believe, that's the only thing I can show you is how He has impacted lives and changed them.
Douglas 09-10-2005, 10:41 PM ok thats fine, but i do believe we evolved from apes, i watch the discovery channel too much lol, but as for the 'missing links' i have always wondered why they never had any fossils between the two
Rosey 09-10-2005, 11:18 PM that doesn't mean you can't disagree with what's on tv.
the site for the star images i think is:
http://cas.sdss.org/dr4/en/
you have to download and use the software to search and stuff.
i think of the universe as just the background for everything [all the galaxies, solar systems, planets, etc].

leSharon 09-11-2005, 09:32 AM *cough* Well......24 posts since yesterday.....Anyway, what's it got to do with Christianity anyway? Sure (actually maybe) God created everything...but.....Everything? Why is He with us instead of Jupiter? He could've made Jupiter a solid but He made Earth solid instead. How come He made us with diseases and inaccuracy instead of perfection? It isn't about God here. It's about...Stuff....Stuff that...is stuff...I guess.....*headache*
And that was nice pb&j. Absolutely brilliant.
Douglas 09-11-2005, 05:35 PM earth was a ball of lava and then it solidified simple, but heres my theory on life:
there was bacteria here already , after that an asteroid hit it had bacteria on it, then the two combined to create a form of life and then we gradullay evolved into our surroundings
luvhartz 09-11-2005, 05:54 PM Interesting to read is the String Theory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory) that says that everything here in this universe is based on strings. even the smallest parts (smaller then quarks (quarks are smaller then elektrons)) are strings that are moving. Yeh i saw a decumentary on that, but the string theory doesnt answer everything. BUT when it is mixed with the super gravity theory (of another dimension in the equation, the gravity comes into it that it is believed that the gravity is leaking in from another universe.) so when the string theory uses this extra dimension, then the string moves in such a way that it becomes a membrane, this is supposed to happen every 1mm/20! each one with different universes inside, and maybe even an opposite world to ours :)

cool.... that makes me think too hard
luvhartz 09-11-2005, 06:03 PM thanks and i just read that someone mensioned big bangs and how they can happen again and again and again,
i think this is true as with that theory they went right back to the big bang and found it wasnt the first big bang, it was nothing special atall its constantly happening.. sooo whens it gona happen next?
short_gurli 09-12-2005, 04:24 AM i am so very confuesed.
Douglas 09-13-2005, 10:56 PM arent we all lol :D
leSharon 09-15-2005, 02:17 PM Wonder when the Earth will blow up....Does this make anybody feel inferior? Or is it just me?
lefty 09-15-2005, 03:00 PM *cough* Well......24 posts since yesterday.....Anyway, what's it got to do with Christianity anyway? Sure (actually maybe) God created everything...but.....Everything? He did make us perfect. Remember the story of Adam & Eve? There was no disease, no sin, etc, until they ate that apple. But now that we're sinners, it gives us a chance to be forgiven by Him and appreciate all that He has given to us and make us understand Him better.
And yes, he did create everything. We're on Earth instead of Jupiter because it was part of His plan. Everything is part of His plan.
i am so very confuesed.
me too! :dead:
Merike 09-15-2005, 07:41 PM earth was a ball of lava and then it solidified simple, but heres my theory on life:
there was bacteria here already, after that an asteroid hit it had bacteria on it, then the two combined to create a form of life and then we gradullay evolved into our surroundings
If an asteroid from space had an bacteria on it then it would prove there's life on some other planet somewhere which would start new debate between people who believe it and those who don't :)
Also you could get new forms of life from one bacteria. Imagine two mutated bacterias combined together. It would certainly be different from original bacterias.
But as for space photos I found some from nssdcftp.gsfc.nasa.gov which came with smartftp as a bookmark.
Douglas 09-15-2005, 08:16 PM of course there is life on other planets, not little green men, but probably like earth was thousands of years ago with animals and stuff
and now:
Wonder when the Earth will blow up....Does this make anybody feel inferior? Or is it just me?
ok earth will never 'blow up' or it shouldnt anyway , the only way that could happen if an asteroid hit, which it will someday, (actually one was supposed to hit in the future but in the 70s it hit jupiter or something) and in another few billion years the sun will grow and take up the inner asteroid belt and then go supernova , which i think either creates a black hole or a new white dwarf
dolce shanti 09-15-2005, 08:18 PM He did make us perfect. Remember the story of Adam & Eve? There was no disease, no sin, etc, until they ate that apple. I totally second everything you just said! However, just thought I'd mention (though you probably know this) that the Bible doesn't say "apple" anywhere. Apprently in Africa or someplace, they say that it was an orange that Adam and Eve ate. I thought that was interesting :-) It was probably something that looked tempting, though.
Merike 09-15-2005, 08:41 PM of course there is life on other planets, not little green men, but probably like earth was thousands of years ago with animals and stuff
What makes you think we have more advanced planet than they? Maybe their planet is older and their world is more complex than ours instead?
lefty 09-15-2005, 09:36 PM I totally second everything you just said! However, just thought I'd mention (though you probably know this) that the Bible doesn't say "apple" anywhere.
I didn't know that, actually! I just skimmed through the story and you're right. I never realized that. Learn something new every day, I suppose ;)
Douglas 09-16-2005, 01:13 AM What makes you think we have more advanced planet than they? Maybe their planet is older and their world is more complex than ours instead?
well, i didnt say that they may not be advanced creatures more than us, i just thought they may be less intelligent than us
dolce shanti 09-16-2005, 02:12 PM I didn't know that, actually! I just skimmed through the story and you're right. I never realized that. Learn something new every day, I suppose ;)
It's interesting to think of what kind of fruit it may have been, isn't it? I think that the fruit probably was one that we don't see today, but I don't have any facts to back that up. It's just my personal opinion :-)
ANYways...I'm getting kind of off topic. :-p
This topic keeps reminding me of something from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... "Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the drug store, but that's just peanuts to space."
Douglas 09-17-2005, 08:51 PM i dont believe in adam and eve, i believe we evolved from monkeys and everyting evolved, it just makes more sense, i mean they have proven dinosaurs existed and it doesnt say anything about them in the bible
dolce shanti 09-17-2005, 09:59 PM Who ever said that something had to be mentioned in the Bible to be true? :-) I believe that dinosaurs existed. However, if you read the book of Job in the Bible there are two creatures very similar in discription to dinosaurs. I believe that one is called the Behemoth. Here's a link about them: http://www.creationists.org/dinosaurs.html
As for Evolution making more sense, I personally don't believe that. Take for instance the single "simple" cell - if you've studied biology at all, you will know that cells are incredibly complex! If one part of the cell didn't function, the whole cell wouldn't work. That is merely one example of the immensely detailed things in our world. I believe that it takes more faith to believe that our complex world was created by chance, than to believe that God created us.
But that's just my opinion - I don't want to get into an argument about it ;-) I believe there's another thread where we've discussed Creation vs. Evolution a lot.
Douglas 09-18-2005, 01:36 AM yeah dont want to get in an argument on here..
