FongPayLoO 06-11-2003, 10:34 PM i tried doing the ssi thing and it doesn't work i already changed my html extenstion to .shtml and then added the thing <!--#include file="something.txt"--> and something is my file name and it is a txt document i tried it on my own computer not on the net but it didn't work can somebody help me?! pb&j 06-12-2003, 04:56 AM i think angelfire is the same as tripod... Currently, Tripod does not support Active Server Pages (.asp and .asf), server-side includes (SSI), or server-side scripts that are not written in Perl. This includes (but is not limited to) JSP, PHP, ColdFusion, and XSSI. pb&j 06-12-2003, 04:58 AM SSI will not work on your own computer unless you have a server program setup on it. in most cases, you will have to upload the pages to an online area that does support the use of SSI. freakEgurl 06-12-2003, 04:58 AM Originally posted by pb&j i think angelfire is the same as tripod... they're both part of the lycos network .. So I guess they're pretty much the same. Anyway, very few free servers allow SSI. croftmania 06-12-2003, 12:38 PM SSI rocks. I use it all the time. A decent host to test it on is Brinkster (http://www.brinkster.com). And as someone has mentioned, you can't get it to work on your pc. You've got to have a server :) FongPayLoO 06-12-2003, 09:11 PM heh thanks guys...i'll test it right now jazzberry 06-12-2003, 11:21 PM that's wierd, because SSI worked for me on angelfire here's the URL for a business project i started a while back it's on angelfire and uses SSI No advertising, please FongPayLoO 06-13-2003, 02:59 AM hey guys now i switched to brinkster and the SSI works perfectly thanks anyways and its free too it even offers more space than angelfire for free Reyloure 08-22-2004, 06:54 PM an awesome free host is 100webspace.com its ad free, 100megs, a gig of bandwith, cgi-bin, php, ssi, you name it.
