does anyone know if angelfire allows SSI before i try using it?

i tried doing the ssi thing and it doesn't work i already changed my html extenstion to .shtml and then added the thing <!--#include file="something.txt"--> and something is my file name and it is a txt document i tried it on my own computer not on the net but it didn't work can somebody help me?!

i think angelfire is the same as tripod...

Currently, Tripod does not support Active Server Pages (.asp and .asf), server-side includes (SSI), or server-side scripts that are not written in Perl. This includes (but is not limited to) JSP, PHP, ColdFusion, and XSSI.

SSI will not work on your own computer unless you have a server program setup on it. in most cases, you will have to upload the pages to an online area that does support the use of SSI.

they're both part of the lycos network .. So I guess they're pretty much the same. Anyway, very few free servers allow SSI.

SSI rocks. I use it all the time. A decent host to test it on is Brinkster (http://www.brinkster.com).

And as someone has mentioned, you can't get it to work on your pc. You've got to have a server :)

that's wierd, because SSI worked for me on angelfire here's the URL for a business project i started a while back it's on angelfire and uses SSI

hey guys now i switched to brinkster and the SSI works perfectly thanks anyways and its free too it even offers more space than angelfire for free

an awesome free host is 100webspace.com its ad free, 100megs, a gig of bandwith, cgi-bin, php, ssi, you name it. Its AWESOME
