*groans*

not another w3c thread -_-

Just because your site is valid doesn't mean it's has all te elements of an exelllent website...

That's why I love www.csszengarden.com <3

I like csszengarden.com, it is rather interesting. I have tried making a skin / template for it, but failed on the graphics side.

I've never checked, though i assume it isn't for many reasons (including coloured scrollbars :P)

the validator at http://validator.w3.org/ only checks your index page. Some people don't know that. If you want to check all your pages at once, use this one: http://htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/ and check "Validate Entire Site."

Douglas

validator.w3.org checks which ever page you want not just the index page

Yes, I realize that. However, i was saying that some people think that since they type in their URL, and it's valid, that their site is valid. In reality, when you type in your URL, it only checks the index page. And why would you want to manually check each page at http://validator.w3.org/ when you can go to http://htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/ and check a box and it does it for you.

comparing your webpage coding against a standard set of coding rules set by the W3C organization.

Yes, coloured scrollbars don't help.

I've checked a few times, and my issue will always be colored scrollbars, which I refuse to give up, lol. Oh, and my other issue is that I don't have that "DOCTYPE Declaration". *shrugs* I've checked my sites in other browsers a while ago, and the only big difference was the lack of colored scrollbars and in FF, one of my iframes was a few px over from where it sould have been (but it probably only looked that way because of the scrollbars not being the color I intended).

As long as a site has content I want to view, a layout that doesn't conflict with the content (ie, I can read it), and I don't get a virus everytime I go to the url, I could care less if it's valid right down to the T.

Yes, coloured scrollbars don't help.

They help make a page look more "prettyful" The scrollbars on Starlet's page are a nice touch, and I'm sure the plain ones throw the whole layout off.

Well, a popup script that I have in my code for my blog gives it trouble everytime I think about checking it, and I am just too lazy to take it out lol.

Every other professional site I do though I validate to the farthest I can, css included...

i dont really care either. i just make sites for fun, so as long as they work and look ok in differnt browsers, who cares.

just an fyi ~
you can still have a valid page with color scrollbars, just a bit of javascript required. i posted it a couple times in the css area, so if you like, just to a quick search there and it should appear up.

i dont think too many people worry about it. Even the big sites (ex neopets, msn, google, yahoo etc) aren't even 100% valid. The only one that was that i saw was w3.org.
