I figure from what I hear that PSP is better than Photoshop. :buckt: But is photoshop a good program? :confusion: Can it make blinkies transparent backgrounds & KOOL stuff like that? I was just wondering thanks!! :cheer2:

the only difference I've noticed is the way things are laid out. I have both. Both can do the same things. PS is said to have a higher learning curve whereas psp is said to be much easier to learn. The other difference is the cost, psp is cheaper. But other maysay some of the capabilities in image rendering is better in ps. but i dont see much difference.

i can do anything you can do with my psp...care to challenge....lol
just joking, but seriously, i can do anything with psp that anyone can do with ps. I have both and i use psp 98% more then ps, which basically just sits there. Why do i open it, lord knows, something else to play with...lol

price is the only diff really. pspv10 is hitting the market in September and it has wicked photo features, i say look out adobe....lol

Edit: When ever this question arises there is always a war of words between those who use both...lets stay sane. The question has been answered.

Go and download both of them and see which one you like best then buy the one you prefer. Trial versions run for about 30 days.

I have Paint Shop Pro and find it much easier to use than PS. My dad has PS and says it is much better, but for me it is incredibly slow in loading and very confusing.... I much prefer PSP, plus it's cheaper.

Point taken. Photoshop is bulky and a memory guzzelor, whats wrong with fireworks, i like to use that as a light weight package.

Fireworks is pretty cool too. A learning curve maybe the only thing. Some folk just tend to pick up quicker with PSP then with any Adobe or Macromedia Products.
I like fireworks and so do the folks here...http://www.geekforum.com/forum/default.asp
if you know alot about FW, pop in and help those who dont. No I am not associated with this place so I aint adverting it. They could however use all the help they can get.

Eh, forget both of them! Paint takes them all out! :P

But on a serious level, I have both, but I use PSP more often than I do PS. PSP, to me, seems easier to use and doesn't run as slow.

PSP is more user friendly. I tried PS out for a few days, and I didn't like it even a tenth as much. And, like it was said before, it's cheeper and faster.

I'm a Paintshop Pro user, It's excellent and I'm churning out some good stuff. I'm yet to utilise everything too!

I have tried PS, but I prefer PSP...like most everyone has said, but I figured one more person's advice couldn't hurt! :guitar:

Yup, same here. Actually, I tried PS before I even knew about PSP. It was what I used to deal with graphics. Then, I discovered PSP, and it was god-sent.

I've been using PSP ever since! I only use PS when I need to make effects that are not available in PSP. Is all. Meh.

Oh, and I realise that most of you prefer PSP over PS. Whoot!

I only have PSP and I LOVE IT! Lol. I always thought PS had like better effects or whatever because it was more expensive. xD
Weellll I guess there the same!

Well PS is all expensive and extravagent with REALLY cool effects. But I feel like it isn't as handy as PSP. But PS has more.....things, ya know?

Just like Scriptmaster said, Photoshop is the king. But really, it just depends on your look on things. Some may say Photoshop is better because they do better in Photoshop. Some say Paint Shop Pro is better because they can do better in that. It just depends. But Paint Shop Pro has less features and Photoshop is more advanced, but combine them together and you can make some stuff. I have both, and when I'm making things such as layouts or heads, I use them both. And it really helps. Plus, not everyone makes Paint Shop Pro brushes nor Photoshop, but if you have both you can have all the brushes/patterns/gradients your heart desires. :D

One of my all-time favorite debate questions :p

I began learning to pain/draw/etc in PSP and swore by it for years. I had tried Photoshop but it was just "too hard" for me. I just couldn't seem to get a real firm grasp on how it worked. However, I continued playing with Photoshop and over time, it began to take over PSP and now I swear by Photoshop. I won't use anything else.

Both are definitely excellent programs, and I don't think one is any better than the other; it's all based on personal opinion and experience. I'm not crazy about Photoshop's Transparent GIF tool. So when I find myself making one, I open up my PSP.. so yeah. It just depends.

Somewhat the same as above... I only use PSP now to code layouts...
There are so many advantages with PS... the overall quality is the best whatsoever and yo won't find one webdesigner who uses PSP insted of PS...

I use PS more. I don't have PSP, but I've tried it in trial for quite a bit. And they're basically the same, but actually, PS has quite a bit more tools and options. But yeah, it IS slower.

This is an interesting thread, overall, I prefer PSP, it runs quicker, (as has been said before) it costs less money, takes up less room, and it's able to achieve the same level of greatness, only with a little bit' more work. :)

With PSP 10 hitting the market this month, many of you will notice a difference in the layers palette, it's near if not identical to photoshop.

I thik paint shop pro is better for people just learning how to make graphics, and after you get the hang of it PS should not be that different, but some of the tools are in different places and its a little more complicated, but if you up for a challenge then go for it. :)

I would say Photoshop tops PSP

which one has better quality? because I use psp7 and the quality is ALWAYS fuzzy and not clear, but I think thats because I save it as gif.

MaGiCSuN
09-19-2005, 09:48 AM
quality has nothing to do with the program, but with the settings the user uses

i can get as clear photos with PSP as with Photoshop.
that you get always fuzzy photo's is more your own faulth, because you should look more into the settings of the program :)

i think this is an useless thread again
you can't say wich is best, because each prefers it's own program. i like psp, but i also like photoshop because i have to learn that for school.

overall you can do most things the same in psp and photoshop together
you just gotta look into it more

Love,
Mirna
