View Full Version : Web Journal
EmpTcaN 06-08-2003, 02:03 PM I'm wondering if anyone knows where i can get a webjournal for my website.
since i don't know how to make one of my own, i'm planning to get one of those where i get two seperate pages: one is where i can put the entry and the other one is to show the entries.. it's pretty much like a guessbook. i'm just wondering if anyone knows any that doesn't have banners or ads.
thankx
zangerbanger 06-08-2003, 08:36 PM I use Greymatter and I highly recommend it:
http://noahgrey.com/greysoft
EmpTcaN 06-09-2003, 05:32 PM gee thanks
:)
EmpTcaN 06-09-2003, 06:09 PM bad news with your recommendation
my webserver/hoste
only support ftp, cgi/perl, on the premium service
which mine is a normal free service so it does not support any of those
sebluver 06-09-2003, 07:13 PM http://www.enetation.co.uk
http://www.blogger.com
http://www.deadjournal.com
http://www.livejournal.com
The first two are free, the second two aren't.
EmpTcaN 06-10-2003, 12:42 AM thanks dude
do you happen to know anything about the first like
cuz i've tried it and i'm a little stuck
i copied the code as it said and paste it to where i want the posts to be......
the problem is when i use the form templates it doesn't summit
i keep getting this 404 error page
EmpTcaN 06-10-2003, 12:47 AM on it's the first link i was talking about
http://www.enetation.co.uk
sebluver 06-10-2003, 08:44 PM Hmm...you HAVE replaced the 'manual' part with a number '1', right?
Otherwise, I dunno. I'd ask them about it...
anniebella 06-11-2003, 05:12 AM I really like Diaryland. It's www.diaryland.com.
It's free to use (unless you want to pay for premium membership - which i do use and love)...and there arent any ads on your blog.
Good luck ;)
EmpTcaN 06-11-2003, 01:05 PM well, i did replace the manual with 1
the problem i'm having with are the templates
i've asked them before and they gave me a default template
but it still doesn't work
when i paste the template to my web
all i keep getting is the 404 error page when ever i hit the summit button
EmpTcaN 06-11-2003, 01:16 PM i had also tried greysoft too, but unfortunitly my server only support cgi and perl to the paid services
and to be honest
i had just tried diaryland
i really don't mind having some add on it but i don't have the $$ to pay for any services anniebella i
designhazard 06-11-2003, 01:38 PM try http://www.pitas.com or http://www.blogger.com. both are my favourites!
EmpTcaN 06-11-2003, 10:04 PM wow thanksalot dude :)
i really like the www.pitas.com
it's simple, easy, and most of all no banners or ads
freakEgurl 06-11-2003, 11:05 PM I think theres another one exactly like lj, but free, i think its called blurty .. http://www.blurty.com
EmpTcaN 06-11-2003, 11:42 PM it's not bad......
but if you check my site you will understand why i like pitas
(i am not trying advertising)
anniebella 06-13-2003, 02:06 AM You don't have to pay for diaryland. It's a free service unless you want premium membership. I pay for the premium membership, but a normal membership (which you don't have to pay for) has almost the exact same advantages as the paying membership. When you sign up it is completely free and doesn't have any ads on the diary whatsoever. Diaryland was made and owned by a guy named Andrew, who is also the owner and creator of Pitas.
You also don't need to download anything to use it.
Hope this helped!
Annie
EmpTcaN 06-13-2003, 02:13 AM thanks alot all:)
but since diaryland and pita is the same, i'll just stick with pita since i already sign up for that
kicker91 06-14-2003, 04:53 PM i dont trust freewebz. it is very slow. i switched awhile back to brinkster. its the same, just not as slow. (just wanted to say that :D)
EmpTcaN 06-14-2003, 05:57 PM is there any ads on blinkster? if not i should try to use blinkster instead cuz freewebz is kinda a ripoff even though it's free,
it states stuff for the free service which doesn't provide
and there's only a limite of files that you can upload and create in there
Brandon 06-14-2003, 07:36 PM freewebs is really slow.. when ur downloading files from a freewebs site is goes much slower then all the other sites. i don't have a host yet, im gonna use dreamhost i think. i've been making the site on my comp.
kicker91 06-14-2003, 07:51 PM brinkster has no ads, very fast browser uploading (i think it has FTP) and has a very good fast file manager. it doesnt (free accounts) have CGI-BIN or perl or fancy stuff like that, but it gives you alota space, and compared to FreeWebz it really kix :D
designhazard 06-15-2003, 12:48 AM brinkster has a bandwidth limit.
EmpTcaN 06-15-2003, 02:24 AM well, it's obvious that most free services are bandwidth limited those who put unlimited must have some catch to it
but thanks for the heads up on blinksters i'll go check it out
edit: is it just me or is it the server blinkster is down?
i've try to check out the site but it doesn't seem to work
edit:never mind it works
please use the edit button within 5 minutes of your original post. --Moderator
EmpTcaN 06-15-2003, 03:43 AM ohhh.... blinkster doesn't provide a gbook
does anyone know where i can get a good gbook without ads?
one probably allows me to modify whatever i want
Brandon 06-15-2003, 04:15 AM http://www.militerry.com/megabook/download.htm
but u need cgi for it
EmpTcaN 06-15-2003, 01:38 PM ohh.... does blinkster support cgi?
designhazard 06-15-2003, 03:00 PM no. brinkster doesn't support cgi :(
EmpTcaN 06-16-2003, 12:05 PM oh.....
hmmm... are there anyother good ones?
kicker91 06-16-2003, 01:12 PM why do you keep saying blinkster? its brinkster!
you might as well use sign my guestbook. (http://www.signmyguestbook.com) its not that bad, i just messed it up by playing with the controls :( gotta make a new account for the new site.
EmpTcaN 06-17-2003, 01:27 AM it's brinkster?
heheheheh
hahahahhaahah
oops......
my bad...
hahahahahah
but does this gbook server have any ads?
what does it support?
what doesn't it suppot?
sebluver 06-17-2003, 02:13 AM It's just a guestbook! How much CAN it support?
signmyguestbook is definately the best, most customizable, free-est guestbook there is.
The only ad is the text link at the bottom that says:
get your own guestbook at SignMyGuestbook.com
DiaryLand diaries - NotifyList mailing lists - Pitas weblogs
EmpTcaN 06-17-2003, 03:00 AM well, if you must know i prefer the more the better...
as i assume that everyone would surely agrees with me on this, that if they had a choice, of course they will choose the more advanced over the less.
INFACT!! if i have a choice, i would want my guests to be able to buld mini games into my gbook so my other guests can play, and while at it, those guests can create THEIR own minigames and play at the same time.
does that answer your question?
