short_gurli 07-29-2005, 05:14 AM i am in love! lol.....well...ok i havent acually played the game. but i want to. ive heard about...er acually seen the university pack. has anyone played it? im kind of on a tight budget...so......if its not really worth me buying it please say so...any sugestions?
tokyo bleu 07-29-2005, 05:27 AM I haven't played it yet because my sister lost one of the discs. But if you plan on doing major downloading for The Sims 2 in the future, you might need University. I think it's seriously worth it though, the screenshots alone tell me it's amazing gameplay. The 'Nightlife' expansion pack is coming out this September too, I believe.
I got it a couple of days after it was out, and i love it, you can get a load of new stuff (Drums ect.) you can join the secert <Spelling?> club and print of fake money. The only thing you cant do is go to school which is what i wanted to do. Anyway if i was you i would buy it, at Amazon.co.uk it costed me £15 when it first came out so it might be cheaper now.
Blakelyn 07-29-2005, 12:20 PM I thought it was just ok. I mean, its cool to be in the college setting (especially if you've been to college and you can relate), and work toward your major and stuff. But it gets boring after a while, because there isnt much to do in the dorms. Also, you only get money for completing courses - I never could figure out how to get a job.
kittycat 07-29-2005, 03:26 PM To make other money you can work in the cafeteria, perform on the piano/guitar etc, or freestyle for tips. It doesn't get as much as a job would but it's a little bit of extra money.
Just got the University expansion pack at the beginning of the summer, it's kind of fun to put a couple sims thru but it does get a bit boring after a while... unles you don't want your sim to be the high-achieving kind, then you might be able to find more out about the game.
One kind of cool thing about it is as adults they now get 6 wants and you can lock 2 of them, I don't know if that's jst for the uni sims or for the old ones as well
cookiemonster 07-29-2005, 03:47 PM Got it a few days after it was released, i like it, you can skip teenagehood (no homework! :D) and loads of cool new stuff, the next expansion pack "Nightlife" is coming out soon, basicly just "Hot Date" for Sims 1 with a different name probably.

if its going to come out so soon in september...do you think that it would be a wise choice for me to just save up my money and just buy the nightlife when it comes out and not buy the university one?
cowabunga44 07-29-2005, 07:27 PM I have never played the Sims 2. But it seems fun and everyone I know plays it. I love games like that anyway. What do I buy? Do I go straight for Sims 2, because you don't need Sims 1 to play Sims 2, it's not like I will be missing big plot things if I skip it all together. I looked at screenshots from Sims 1 and the graphics are so old looking. Is Sims 2 a lot better graphics wise.
So my big question is, should I just forget completely about sims 1 and all of those expansion packs and jump to Sims 2?
unbeknownst 07-29-2005, 11:27 PM Forget Sims 1, I mean, it is good, but the Sims 2 is SOOOOOOO much better. The university one is great, also. I think you should get it!

You can't get a job when you are at the University...because you need time to write a term paper and stuff...

Thanks for the great advice  I think I WILL get Sims 2! :)
tokyo bleu 07-30-2005, 12:50 AM If your computer isn't up to today's gaming standards (which is like 512MB+ RAM, 2.0+ GHz processor, etc.), you might just want to stick with The Sims 1. Otherwise, The Sims 2 is the way to go IMO.
pengiranijam 07-30-2005, 01:17 AM Sims 2 seems more grapic better than Sims 1... :lolol:
Maybe, you need some performance mobo for Sims 2 to better play...
cowabunga44 07-30-2005, 01:17 AM Trust me, my computer is up to todays gaming standars, lol. I am definetly into gaming (mostly RPG and strategy, never played sim type before). The question is my wallet up to the standards. It is kind of expensive for a game.
pengiranijam 07-30-2005, 01:21 AM Lol, I dun means that way at all cost... I mean not to bothering you... hehe, sorry...
unbeknownst 07-30-2005, 03:08 AM I am glad to help :).
I have spent hours on that game...my first family had LOTS of kids and LOTS of grandkids! I named several the same name...lol

What was that? Sorry, I didn't understand what you just said.
University is amazing!!! and it makes gameplay so much easier to accomplish your sims goals, because you get more wants to fulfill and when u get back from university you can get a higher position at work faster....PLUS when you get old you can use the university hair styles and then you don't have to have ugly white hair..
As for in university, you CAN get jobs and there are always alternate ways of getting money. In the dorms you can work where the person that serves lunch is just click on him or the stove. You can also tutor people for money, be people's personal trainers if they're exercising...even if you don't have an exercise machine you can go to community lots and work there. There are also jobs in bartending in community lots and i could go on.... also you could always buy the money tree, you get money fast without doing anything. If you know how to manage your time you can earn a lot of money (only useful to you when in University so no point saving up), have a 4.0 GPA and be the "big man on campass" (popular- know loads of people).
Its an awesome game, but if you have a slow computer like people said, don't buy it. It works so slow on my computer that it makes me go insane but on my brothers it works fine, so i know how bad it is to have to work with it on a slow computer
