Hello,

I came on here to register in case I have some HTML questions later. I've got another question though. :wolf:

Why do people lose interest in their own websites? I've just been searching for a really lovely website I used to visit but found it's been taken down. The web owner seemed realy proud of it and dedicated. She joined topsites and had her domain listed on search engines. I've come across many really beautiful websites but the owners quickly lose interest in them. I contacted 4 web owners asking why they deleted their sites but they never answer. Why do people do that?

It could be because of a number of reasons.

It could be personal, in that they don't have enough time to update it, or they don't have enough money to keep running it. They might just have got bored of it.

It could also be because they violated their host/domain providers TOS, and therefore had their site taken down. Thye might have felt it wasn't worth building it up again.

thanks for answering. It makes sense, but knowing these people running their sites it doesn't add up why or how they could just get bored with it or cease to run it. It would be like making a work of art you love and then trashing it. Strange but yes its probbaly because they violated the terms or couldn't afford it. I think we'll just never know the details.

Sometimes it is just not the time...Lisa from http://www.play-mania.com closed her site a couple of times this past year, but she brought it back within a few days...sometimes they come back.

Once some people have mastered lovely sites they may feel the need to move onto a new challenge

Me, for instance, I've never actually had a site up for more than a week. I make it, then realize I could make it better, so you close it and make a new site. The reason I don't edit it right then and there is because I want something fresh, something new, etc. So other people may think the same. Right now I'm working on a really big site that I plan to keep up.

main reason is they get bored. There is no challenge anymore to make things better, they are already good.

it's sad though. I've seen many great and awsome site's dissapear because of that.

web_guy: you close a site and make a new one. The people we talk about close their site and never come back. I also don't understand why you start a new site each time? why can't you just make a whole new layout? less hassle :stickout:
