unfortunatly i wish to block someones ip from my site is there a way i can locate the IP adress first though? i know the person visted my site is there some kind of record?? and how do i block someones IP?

If they've commented on a tagboard, in comments, guestbook, some place like that, then there's a good chance that their IP has been logged there.
It also might be logged on a counter script if you have one of those, you just have to figure out which entry would be theirs.
To block it, use htaccess (HTML page 6 I think, if not just use the search on the main site)
