I was watching TV at around 10:30 - 10:40 am this morning (EDT GMT -4) and saw on CNN the news broke about Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor retiring/resigning. Before that, I was flipping channels to see what's on TV for the coverage of Canada day celebrations before I saw the news story broke on CNN.

From CNN.com
Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, the first woman to serve on the high court and the key swing vote in some of the nation's highest-profile cases, announced her resignation Friday.

This is SERIOUS!!!!!!!! so please do not place this in Nut News.

hmm i wonder why she resigned. maybe its because she knows our country's going down the potty and she doesn't want to be a part of the lack of justice we face today :P but then again if she thought something was messed up she should've tried to change the way things work. i know that would've been nearly impossible due to the fact that politics is cheap and dirty and no one ever does/says what the really believe in.. but why just resign and let the bad guys have their way with the country? that's no good.

Her husband apparently has been quite sick, so that might be why.

I would not want to know who's going to replace her. Well, we do know the kind of person who is likely to replace her...

I was just reading about this at Yahoo! News. I am disappointed; O'Connor is one of the few "conservatives" I actually respect and admire.
