I went swimming today and now I have water in my ear... Normally, it just drains out when you shake your head but not this time... It's been several hours since we got home and it's still in my ear and I can't get it out... Not even with a q-tip... It's like it's behind the ear drum... I can hear it in there swishing around. The last time this happened, I got swimmer's ear =( Does anyone know how to get water to come out of your ear before it developes into swimmer's ear??

I always get swimmer's ear. I have to use those swimmer's ear drops (or resort to putting vaseline in my ear) they usually sell at drug stores. You can also use rubbing alcohol to put in your ear....it will dry it out. <-that's what I used to do when I ran out of the drops.

When I get stubborn water in my ear, I usually go to sleep on that side, so my ear is to the pillow - most of the time, the water works its way out during the night.

Hopefully you have already got rid of the water, but just in case: This may seem weird so do it in private ...
1. Put the palm of your hand flat onto the ear which has water in it.
2. Press it in and pull away again to create a vacuum
3. Repeat
4. At the same time, swing your other arm round in circles.
This works for me :hehe: so it might work for you :P

I hate it when I get water in my ear! I've never had swimmer's ear but water in there is so annoying!

When you go to a swimming pool, make sure you have earplugs with you.
