View Full Version : Photo Shop vs. Paint Shop angelwings24_7 06-12-2005, 04:10 AM Is Photo Shop better then Paint Shop? What do you think. Im thinking on buying photo shop webgirl 06-12-2005, 04:17 AM Paint Shop Pro is easier to use and cheeper then photoshop. But photoshop is more advanced I think. Valkyrie 06-12-2005, 04:25 AM If you have the money (because it's expensive), go with Photoshop. I prefer it over Paintshop Pro. I just feel it's more powerful and you can achieve more with Photoshop. tokyo bleu 06-12-2005, 04:35 AM You should just try out each product and see for yourself. Everyone always prefers something over the other in this repeated topic. But as said before, Photoshop has more "powerful" features. scorpio_chick 06-12-2005, 08:31 AM i'm currently using adobe photoshop 7.0. Everybody is saying that adobe is more advanced and pro than paint shop pro but i've seen that it's quite easy when you get used to it. Take it from me if you don't know much abt graphics designing go with psp so it would be more faster for you to learn but if you have patience you can always go and buy(if you have the money) adobe if you prefer. Both programs have the same actions and techniques but most of the webdesigners i know uses psp. elysia 06-12-2005, 09:20 PM Photoshop is better, hands down. Once you go photoshop, youll never go back and Paint shop pro will seem cumbersome and youll find yourself thinking "This is SO much simplier in photoshop." Also Photoshop is more widely used among the "professionals" Spirit892 06-15-2005, 01:36 AM You can download both, I believe, for a free trial. http://www.adobe.com/ http://www.jasc.com/ Test them out and see Fuschia 06-16-2005, 03:24 AM Personally I think that PSP is harder to use, it's no where near as advanced as Photoshop and to top it off it's full of bugs. If you are going to get a graphical program than I urge you to get Photoshop. It is easy to use/learn and no where near as complicated and idiotic as PSP. AFPrismaFreak 06-16-2005, 03:26 AM I suppose it would depend on what you plan on doing with it. I'm very loyal to my old psp6 but thats just because I know it inside and out. The psp9 demo scares me. *pokes it* I think that whichever program you get, you will prefer it once you get to know it. But that's just my opinion. tokyo bleu 06-16-2005, 03:44 AM If you are going to get a graphical program than I urge you to get Photoshop. It is easy to use/learn and no where near as complicated and idiotic as PSP. I always thought PSP was the more user-friendly program. How can it be more complicated if Photoshop is the advanced one? Bubbles01 06-17-2005, 07:35 PM Paint shop pro is for making the graphics. Photoshop is for brushes, effects, textures all that stuff. I myself, have both. And i would recommend Paint shop pro to beginners because Photoshop is really hard lefty 06-17-2005, 07:44 PM you can make graphics with photoshop :confusion Basically, photoshop is more advanced. That's all there is to it. MaGiCSuN 06-17-2005, 07:47 PM there's is no best program. I'm getting a bit tired of these "discussions". People always think when they buy the "best" program they can instantly make beautiful designs. Let me tell you this, YOU CAN"T ! no matter how expensive, good, awsome, great the program is, if your skills are terrible you won't make any image AT ALL ! good .. people always say that psp is more user friendly. I myself have always used psp because well.. erm that's an illegal reason i'm afraid :P i don't think there is much difference. If you want to learn you want to learn it ! I never took the time to learn illustrator myself. 2 weeks on my new school i learned illustrator just like that. If you want it, you will get it, no matter how much money you pay for it anywayz. so, if you want to save some money, and still make gorgeous images. Go with PSP. If you HAVE enough money, then do what you like best. you still have to learn the skills, a program won't do it for you. Eddy Bones 06-18-2005, 01:35 AM Yes, these PSP/PS debates are rather redundant. It's what the forum search is for. I'll just say this: More advanced does not equate to more difficult. Cherchezlafemme 06-18-2005, 03:01 AM I've used both programs, and I don't really like PSP anymore. Though in some tutorials and other articles I have read, PSP is a good program to learn if you are a novice to graphic programs. I didn't find PSP too difficult to use when I first bought it and used it. A handbook if always wise to use if you're new to anything. Like Mirna said you can have the best programs and make total abominations. PSP nor Photoshop will enable you to make works of art in one instant. For any program you have to practice with the tools and become acquianted with filters/etc... Either program can make really great works of art, depending on what you make of it! As soon as you become more advanced and try out other programs, you develop a preference. My personal choice would be Photoshop, though it is an opinion from experiences. Always try out your options before you make decisions that will make holes in you or your parent's wallet. :) Sheila 06-18-2005, 10:24 AM Going to close this now, because this question is asked a lot. If you want to know more, search the forum. (Plus, it is all just a matter of opinion.) |
