I remember reading on some neopets help site, ( or was it Neopets ToS?) that it IS against Neopets rules to cover up/get rid of the trophies, shield, pets, etc.

I'm pretty sure that's right, if I am wrong, someone correct me!

Yes, it is against the Neopets rules to hide any stats. This includes your trophies and shields, etc.
