My senior prom is in... *counts* ...Less than six hours and I'm trying to repress my fears. For anyone else who has gone to prom, how did things go? The way I see it, it's either a really good night, or really a horrible night.

Prom went okay. My first prom both my best friend and I were supposed to have dates, but they both bailed on us (BLAH!) so we just went together! We had fun, I borrowed her dress since I didn't have a date anyway, and her mom made us corsages to wear. The after-"events" ended up being crap, so we just went back to her house, ate cake and slept in :P My second prom was supposed to be better, but it ended up kind of sucking because half of our limo got suspended from school for riding around campus (yes, inside the school) in their car, I guess the cameras got the license plate and everything, so we had to invite random annoying people. We went to an upscale buffet place, and two of the annoying girls decided not to eat, but were eating off of everyone else's plates, and we got in trouble (grrr). Prom was fine though, because we got to ditch them and just hang out with people we liked. I went with my boyfriend, who is still such! Afterwards, I spent the night at my friend's house. Not too eventful, and wayy too expensive, but fun nonetheless :P

Don't be nervous, it's just one night :) And it CAN be mediocre, lol :D Have fun!!!

We don't really have a prom here like in the states but thursday i had my end exam party.. and that was pretty amusing (but you can't compare that to a prom)

ours is senior only unless you are going with a senior, so of course i didnt go this year, but i am planning on going next year. as it is i might miss homecoming, so i will definetely have to go to prom. i would have actually gone this year, because one of my senior friends didnt have a date, but, as it is, i wont be ready to pay next year lol how could i afford it this year. luckily, only have to rent a tux, but, then theres the limo, tickets, corsage, yeah, it adds up.

My boyfriend is my date, and I'm sure he'll be acting crazy. I'm sure he'll be trying to do the dance he made up a few years ago (The Triangle Shakedown).

This is my first dance, ever. I wanted to go to every dance this senior year, but due to money, I decided to wait until prom. I would have tried for a limo, but of all the years I've been at this high school, we were never allowed to have limos or drive to prom on our own. But the prom is located in town, so I guess they don't mind people driving... Which we found out at the last minute. A lot of people say the real fun is after prom, but I'm still debating about going to a party (I'm worried I won't know anyone, and people will be acting up). That's sweet that your boyfriend is still with you :D I know it's just one night, but I'm more concerned with my date having a good time.

Guys are lucky they can rent their tuxes. Since I had to pay $120 for my dress (it was $149, but I got a discount since I had to get it tailored, despite my grandma doing it for me) Eh, and my date opened his closet a few weeks ago and found a tux in the back, lol, so he lucked out. So, he's the one paying for our pictures ;) We split the cost of the tickets, and he's having trouble looking for my corsage (he said he'll bring me a whole plant if he can't find one, lol).

Right now I'm struggling with his boutonniere. I've read about ten online articles and I'm afraid to even touch the flowers I have.

I actually just went to mine last night. It was great. My date and I are not big dancers, so we sat on the patio and talked for 4 hours after dinner.

My prom was tonight too! Of course I'm sitting here typing this in my dress right now :P I was going to go to a friend's house after but decided it wasn't really worth it... Everyone there will be drinking except for me, any they all get annoying when they're drunk.

I thought tonight was all right, but I'm really glad I didn't spend a whole lot on it - less than $30. My dress was borrowed from a friend's older sister, who also did my hair, and I borrowed shoes too. The only money spent was on a ticket and a bottle of water. I actually only decided about 3 days ago that I was even going.

Could've done without the prom itself, the people there who weren't part of my circle of friends were absolutely HORRID.... The fun part was just being all dressed up and hanging out with friends :D Also could've done with less picture taking, you know there's too much when people start getting algebra/calculus/philosophy class group photos... And I'm really tired now, I think after my poptart is finished I'll be heading off to bed :P

we don't do proms in france either. We have huge finals in the 12th grade and then we get the results, posted on a bulletin board, telling us if we passed high school or not. After that, someone had a huge party at their house and we all went to party. It was a blast. I had a good time.
My brother told me, his class had a dinner type thing and a dance but it's not usual to do that.

I didn't go this year, as both my best friends had dates and I didn't really want to be a fifth wheel. I heard Afterprom went pretty well. I doubt I'm going next year (unless someone asks me, of course) either. (I also rather doubt I'm going to get asked, so that saves me some money.)

Mine is next week, or the week after or something. My friend wants me to go a with him since he can't go on his own because he's a returning graduate. I'm not going though. My friends won't leave me alone about it. They keep making up little theories about why I don't want to go.. I just don't lol

I don't like dressing up at all. Last year my best friend (at the time) wanted a group of us to go out to swiss chalet and dress up in nice clothes, for no reason. Who dresses up to go to Swiss Chalet?! It's connected to Harveys! Needless to say, we aren't friends anymore. (ok, ok, there was more to it than that lol)
Now it's just a big inside joke... everytime we see someone in a prom dress or tuxedo, we ask them if they're going to Swiss Chalet. Wow, what a random story that has nothing to do with this thread lol.

My second prom was supposed to be better, but it ended up kind of sucking because half of our limo got suspended from school for riding around campus (yes, inside the school)
haha, that sounds like the best prom ever!

I had prom the same day too. I can't believe I didn't see this thread. XD
But I hope you had fun. :)

Prom was my first school dance and I had fun. I went with my boyfriend and another group of friends; it was nice to dress up and also see your friends looking spiffy too. I love my dress, but it was rather expensive. My only complaint would be my corsage. I got it from a 1-800-Flowers place and it kept falling apart. :grouch: I found it to be embarrising when someone else had to pick up my rose. Also the picture of my corsage at their site had 3 roses, and mine had only one...but I realized that a few days later. I also didn't get to do anything after prom because I had taken a placement exam for my university early that morning, so by midnight I was feeling dead.
Oh well, I had fun either way. I'm kind of sad that theres only one more senior activity left. Time goes by fast and even though I hate high school, I'll miss all my friends. :(

Prom was my first and last school dance, and I'm surprised I had fun. The first part was a bit, eh. We started out by scoping the place out and stopping to greet friends. My dress was nice, but it was $120 (it was $149 we got a discount because it had to be fitted, and my grandma ended up doing it for me ;) ). I thought that was a decent price based on the price of most prom dresses, but my mom was mad. After hours of trying to make my own corsage (my boyfriend said he couldn't find one), he showed up with one =D I didn't know if I should be surprised/happy or annoyed  I liked it, it had a little bumble bee in it, lol. But, my dress had straps, so we carried it most of the night since it kept falling off. We planned on going to an after party, but he forgot the address of the house  We stopped by a fast food resturant, ate at his house, and hung out all night/morning/the next day. I agree, high school is wack, but in more ways than one, we'll miss it when it's over :(
