I'm getting surgery today... :( Don't worry, it's nothing serious. But I wanted to ask if anyone else ever got surgery before, and what was it for.

never have. There was one time when my MOM (GUILT TRIP!!!) ran me over in the car (when i was 5 year old. how devastating both mentaly and physically) She didnt realyl break anything,

(warning reading further could be graphic to some people with sick twisted minds who would actually want to visualize this happening)

So one day i was playing in a puddle, minding my own business. All of a sudden i get smucked in the head by some extremely hard and moving at a rather rapid pace. When i came too a few seconds later all i could see was the car grinding at my leg, literally ripping it apart. Wondering who the moron was who decided that it would be funny to run over a happy little boy playing in a puddle, i looked in the drivers side mirror. To my horror it was my own dear mother.

Appearently hammering on the gas wasnt getting her over the bump that was my leg, so she pressed the gas harder!! (psch typical woman driver ;)) Eventually she came to the realization that the car just wasnt going over the bump. When she got out of the car she got the wierdest look on her face. She was wondering what this red stuff on the ground was. It wasnt there before she started backing out. Finally She actually saw me trapped underneath the car and passed out realizing what the red stuff was.

Appearently though, an ambulance wasnt good enough for me (i really wanted to rid in the back of an ambulance, just to feel important). My dad took me to the hospital. I found out that Mom managed to somehow control the car (like woman drivers are so satisfyingly good at [/sarcasm]) so that it only ripped apart everything from my knee to my ankle. (GRAPHIC WARNING) I could see a nice big ole muscle mass (when it is clean it actually looks pretty neato), and after my bone was clean from all of the rubber i could see that clear as day as well. (/END GRAPHIC WARNING)

i got out of it almost scar free (except for the emotional damage of being ran over by YOUR OWN MOTHER...ANOTHER GUILT TRIP!!!). The only physical scars left are a few small ones on my knee and microscopic one in the shape of a tire (dunno how they came out that shape, but meh)

flinchalot (or whatever the name is.) in reply to your signature, you still have a quarter to die. If you get scared half to death again, then you have .125% life left. and so on and so on. That the reason a bouncing ball never stops bouncing, or an elastic never stops vibrating when you twing it. High school physics. you will learn about it.

I've never had surgery, but I did have a baby. I imagine that hurts about as much as some surgeries.

Childbirth is probably more painful, because at least they knock you out for surgery :P

they should develope an epidural for people who have surgery. giving birth wasn't really painful for me because I got my epidural the right time. I can only imagine how painful it would have been without it. It hurt AFTER the meds wore off... but then they give you REALLY good drugs to take care of it LOL!

I will prob. have to get it soon. My sternum didn't, like, er, grow, right, so I have a big nice hole in me chest :D Not a big deal. I don't want to have it, cause they break your bones and stick a metal bar it you, not my type of stuff:) Good luck!

Ain't that the truth!!! This woman asked me how i felt 30 minutes later and I told her that I felt fine, i still had the epidural going but when it wore off, i felt like i had been hit by a bus!

But actually since it wasn't a c section and no cutting was involved, it was easy for me to bounce back..

No surgeries here, although i have a pending endo :( . At least it's not a colonoscopy....

I've had dental stuff done, but I don't think that qualifies. (More than my share of tooth extractions. And they took something that they thought was a cyst out of my gum at the same time. It turned out to be an inflamed eruption follicle.)

Since I turned 18 I had surgery on my wrists several times.

Good luck magIn2. What is it that has to be done? (Sorry for being curious)

Twice, the first was just a minor thing 4 years ago to expose a tooth and help bring it into place properly, and my wisdom teeth were taken out at the same time. The second was jaw surgery just three weeks ago. So now I can't chew :(

I had an allergy to cat scratches as a child, and when I was about 8 years old I got scratched by a neighbor's cat and the glands under my arms swelled, and had to be removed (or just drained, I don't remember which). I still have the scar where they cut open my armpit :)

I don't remember it hurting that bad, it was pretty much fine once they got the glands out/drained.

Hope everything goes well!

I had a hernia, so had to have an operation for that. I was about 7 or something when it happened.

When I was a baby, I was born too early, so I had extensive surgeries, but I don't remember them. ;) Good Luck with your surgery!

When I was about one year old, I had some kind of tube surgically inserted into my chest, but I said no anyway because I don't remember it :) I got spinal taps and stuff when I was about 4, so I've heard, but I don't remember those either thank goodness! The closest I've gotten to surgery recently is when I got a huge chuck of wood stuck in my leg during ballet class (.. yeah, ballet) and the doctors had to dig for it to get it out :P My mom refused to go with me, she made my dad do it.

Good luck with your surgery, hope there's no pain :)

I've never had surgery. I've had spinal taps too when I was 3 or 4, luckily I didn't remember them either lol. Maybe I only had one, I don't know :P

Last summer I had like 5 gallbladder attacks in 2 months, which I blame entirely on KFC (that's all I ate last summer, NOT A GOOD IDEA!) I'm sure if I went to the doctor, they would have made me get surgery to get my gallbladder removed. I know it was my gallbladder too, I'm 100% positive. I just stopped eating anything with fat in it for the rest of the summer, now I eat just as bad as I used to lol. I'm never eating KFC again though.

Hi, I'm back... Well, actually I came back from the hospital a long time ago but I was really sleepy afterwards and took a nap. This is how it went, here's my story:

After waiting forever in the waiting room they told me to go put on a gown. For a little while I waited on the bed that had nice warm blankets. You won't believe how freezing cold it was in there! The nurse came in a few minutes later and put some sort of creme on my hands. She said it would numb the skin so I wouldn't feel any pain when she inserted a needle and tube into my veins. Yea, it hurt, but that was pretty much the worst part. Then they strolled me over into the surgery room. The doctor was there and talked over a couple things with me. She said I would be fine and it would be over less than 45 minutes. I put on the mask and breathed deeply. They told me I would start to feel sleepy... I started feeling dizzy and my eyes were getting heavy. A minute later I woke up with and found myself in the recovery room. I was really tired and tried to relax in bed. The anestasi (sp?) hadn't quite gone away yet... An hour later I was doing fine so I took a cab home. On the ride home I started to feel sick to my stomach. Which they had already explained was very normal and said to simply eat light foods, like fruits. Later that afternoon I had headaches but that was normal too. Lastly I had been very sleepy. But other than that, the headache is my only pain. In case you're wondering, I had to get a cyst removed in my right arm, supposedly it's called pilomatricoma. All I have now is a scar there which will hopefully vanish in a month or two... Anywho, I'm doing better I took some pain medicine for my headache. I'm going to bed early tonight so I can get lots of rest. (For those getting surgery anytime soon, don't worry, you won't remember a thing!) :)

i've never had surgery, but i've had all these weird scans done on my stomach.. like where you have to swallow tubes so they can see inside and one where you have to drink like 2 big tall glasses of this stuff that tastes like chalk so that it alluminates your stomach so they can see inside.. but they still never figured out why my stomach always hurts to badly. they were just like "oh you'll grow out of it!".. well, i haven't yet! doctors suck.

i hope your surgery goes well! :)

by the by, shockertwin009, i [i]almost feel bad for you but all of your little remarks were so unbelievably ^^^ist that i'm just really annoyed right now :P

I have a cyst in my wrist... If I pick something heavy up, it will start hurting and get swollen...

The closest thing I've ever had to surgery was when I got my ankle stitched up after cutting it open...

Glad to hear it went well, magln! :)

Glad to hear that your surgery was okay, magln :)
I've never had surgery myself, but one of my best friends was born with double (i think it's called urerthra or something) tubes in her kidney, and it messed up her system; she would stop breathing and things like that. So she had to have surgery to have those tubes fixed, and it was really scary because she missed tons of school and had to stay in the hospital for a while...so though I've never been a hospital patient myself, I've known somebody who was :P does that count?

Thanks everyone, I'm glad it went well too. =) But this was a lot easier than my last surgery. (A few years back) I once had to get a bone removed. Supposedly I had an extra bone which was no bigger than a marble in my left shoulder area. They almost mistaked it as cancer, which was pretty scary but thank goodness it wasn't! Anyway, right now my arm is a little sore... but I shouldn't be complaining, I don't let those things bother me normally. Meh but I don't like to look of my big ugly scar on my arm. They put a clear bandage over it so I can see the cut perfectly and right now it has all these bruise marks. It looks nasty. Hmm... I don't think you guys would like to see that, heh, I think I'll delete that photo of half dead/alive arm...

I've never had surgery, but my friend has on her right leg about 5 times. She spazzes out each time... her doctors say one more injury on that leg and it's rendered useless o_O

And that's great w/ the surgery mag1n2!

About 3 years ago I broke and dislocated my right pinky finger. (It was really gross and twisted at this weird angle) It was so messed up they set it surgically. Now its fine though it does hurt sometimes if I write a lot or something. Last year I had my wisdome teeth out. THAT stunk. I looked like a chipmunk for several days. Anesthesia doesn't make me sick but I get really weird. After my finger surgery I started talking to my hand and after the wisdom teeth I asked my mom the same question about a dozen times.

I'd use mederma for the scar though as soon as you get an ok from the doctor about it!!! I'm glad you survived!!! I usually would like totally cry and my mom would have to force me to even wear the gown haha

Glad it went well! Forgot to mentio my friend. Let's see, well, he cut his finger off, stuck a barbecue (sp?) pointy thing through his hand, and alot of other stuff. He's a Klutz... Not to mention the time he knocked me out... long story, he was teaching me karati(sp) and flipped me over. Smashed me head into the bookcase.

This may sound fake, but he did do all that.
