ok on June the 30th/05 school is over yay! but im moving into grade 7 and guess what! I still don't know my multiplycation yet! I only know the 1,2,5,10 really well i can only go up to 9 but for the 1,5,10's i can go up to any number and i really hate not knowing my times table how can i remember my time tables? but im not the only one who doesnt know times table in my class. My teacher even thinks im good at math even if i dont know my multiplycation!

don't feel bad. I am a math whiz when it comes to hard stuff like algebra and trig but I don't know my times tables by heart either. i always have to manually add unless it's easy like 2's-5's or 9's and 10's. Don't let it stress you out tho. Just cause you don't know your times tables by heart doens't mean you are dumb.

it took me a while to learn mine to but don't worry the more you use then the better you will remember them just practice a lil and don't stress over it you'll get it

Yea, the key factor in learning them is patience and will. Don't get lazy, but don't rush it either. I learned mine by 5th grade, but that's because I had good teachers and a tutor. If you want to, PM me for any help. Or email. My friends call me The Rain Man because I'm so good with numbers, so I'm sure it wouldn't be so hard if you had someone who is patient and willing to help.

That, and of course I have nothing else to do until I start college.

I still don't know my times tables. That's why I'm an English major :lol:

In my elementary school we used to do flash cards ALL the time, that's probably why I got so good at them :lol: We also did races with multiplication problems and stuff, so everyone wanted to win, meaning we learned faster :P I would deifnitely say that the flash cards helped a lot, you might want to invest in those and really work on them. :D I forget a lot of my times tables.. you won't need them later in life, you get a calculator after 10th grade (in most cases)!

Well, warning ya, really stupid songs are envolved. BUT, they helped me, so thanks to those stupid songs, I know my multipication tables.

We had to take tests on our multiplication tables in elementry school. I was so nervous my knees were shaking. To help me learn my mom made me recite them while jumping up and down on a trampoline. Not sure why, but in the end I learned them. I can't remember my 12s anymore though... Don't worry too much! As you get into higher math you can use a calculator for everything.

Dang! I'm working on mine, I'm in my 6s :blush: True, I shoulda known them along time ago, and I have this REALLY cheesy tape i listen to. Somehow I managed to keep my friends from knowing... unless, *gulp*, they're, *gulp gulp*, disguised here. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Don't stress it, that only makes it worth. AND, I'm hopefully getting rights to a calculator soon! If only I get it sooner. :rant:

I feel for you. Sometimes I feel like I don't have a math file in my brain too, because I can make the stupidest mistakes, and it makes me feel bad because my dad really wants me to be good at math. Oh well, I'm working on it When I was in 8th grade, I tutored kids your age who didn't know their times tables too. Just relax, practice, study, and you will get it!

There are a lot of tricks for division, but I can't think of any for addition. Flash cards help, plus practice practice practice.

with 9s you can use your fingers;

stick your hands out in front of you. Use this multiplation problem:

7*9=?

start at your pinkie finger on your left hand and head towards your right. count off 7 fingers, when u get 7 put the seventh one down. the numbers to the left of the seventh finger count as the 10s place, then the ones on the left count as the 1s place. since you DONT count the seventh finger, you get 63. got it? this works on the 9s tables 1-10.
