View Full Version : Singer and Actor Job Question
pashmina_604 04-25-2005, 12:58 AM Lol my parents said if i get three or more A's on my report card they will sign the paper for me to be a singer and actor but then i know actors get alot of money but my brother keeps on saying that singers get less money is that true? if so how much?
tokyo bleu 04-25-2005, 01:18 AM Uh, well, it depends on who exactly the person is, what kind of job they're doing at the moment, who they're working for, if they do concerts, etc.
netaholic 04-25-2005, 01:26 AM Keep in mind that for every one successful actor/singer there have to be loads of unseccessful ones. Although, it seems to me it's becomming increasingly easier to be a celebrity these days...
lefty 04-25-2005, 01:34 AM pashmina, how old are you? I do hope you plan on finishing school first.
As a side note, you should choose a career because you like it, not because of the money.
Monkey Bizzle 04-25-2005, 03:09 AM if i get three or more A's on my report card they will sign the paper for me to be a singer and actor
hahahahahahahaha
if only it was as easy as just signing a paper...
netaholic 04-25-2005, 03:13 AM As a side note, you should choose a career because you like it, not because of the money.
yes, however do you think money still does matter?
lefty 04-25-2005, 03:25 AM I think you need money to function in today's society, but I'd be perfectly happy without it if I could.
coolone 04-25-2005, 03:54 AM amount of money= amount of popularity and cds u release and the times, rite now, i think r&b, pop, rap is popular, but then again, many ppl mite not lik those genres. it also depend on the place, in japan, competition is huuuge
actor is also the same, amount of money=amount of movies u r in
Valkyrie 04-25-2005, 04:15 AM Just signing a paper to become an actor/singer? Be wary of such things...
They may promise to make a star out of you, but just end up taking your money. So be careful. Also, like Lefty said, I hope as well that you plan to finish school first...
Dude128 04-25-2005, 04:20 AM amount of money=amount of movies u r in
not really... it depends on what the movie is. you can be in a dozen indie films and have only a small following and make little money, but be in one or two high budget, big name films and make a small fortune.
pashmina_604 04-25-2005, 05:06 AM after i get my last report card i will go to grade 7 spooky cant u just get a tutor like hilary duff? she's my role model :D
GameDesigner 04-25-2005, 08:47 AM 7th grade...?? Jesus, you need to worry about school before anything. You still got plenty of time ahead of you.
And whoever said they were going into acting for the money only is retarded. You have to have the want to entertain the world, one movie/concert at a time. Trust me, actors make more because of the movie. If you go into music, you should fill out that application for McDonald's before you do. You know... just in case. ;)
Nah, I'm just messin. It's all a game of chance, I think. Ciara hasn't been around that long, and she's already doing good on One Two Step and My Goodies. I hope she comes out with more.
Ayumi Hamasaki, over in Japan, is the leading female singer over there, being followed by BoA. I wish Utada would make another CD soon. Maybe she'll get more publicity.
aerith86 04-25-2005, 11:29 AM I think your parents should have said "I'll sign the paper if you get all A's on your 12th grade report card."
netaholic 04-25-2005, 11:33 AM spooky cant u just get a tutor like hilary duff?
huh?
GameDesigner 04-25-2005, 11:50 AM I think your parents should have said "I'll sign the paper if you get all A's on your 12th grade report card."
That makes sense, yea...
kiara 04-25-2005, 12:28 PM cant u just get a tutor like hilary duff? she's my role model :D
Yeah...might I add that Hilary Duff uses a computer to sing? It's not her real voice. So uh....doubt you'll make it in the music business with her as your role model... -scampers off before she gets killed by angry LEIA Forum members-
Blakelyn 04-25-2005, 01:13 PM I agree with everyone that you should finish school, but that doesn't mean you can't start on an acting/singing career now. Someone has play the part of children and teenagers in the movies! You can still complete your education while doing that - and no, it's certainly not easy to get into that business, but everyone should have dreams and goals, and nothing is impossible.
lefty 04-25-2005, 01:25 PM Yeah...might I add that Hilary Duff uses a computer to sing?
And her acting skills? Erm...
kiara 04-25-2005, 01:52 PM Guess that's what rich people can do. >.<
It sucks that there isn't much talent anymore in the world...
Rock on to the oldies!
Karen_ 04-25-2005, 09:31 PM There are thousands of people trying to make it as a singer or actor.. It drives me crazy when people decide they're going to be a singer or actor, and expect to just make it big all of a sudden. You better have a back up job and expect to work your butt off. There are people who spend years in college or university studying acting or music, and almost all of them will never become famous.
And if you have to ask how much they make, the job is probably not for you :P

Thank you! I was reading through this and everyone was making valid points but no one was hitting the BIG one! Becoming and actor/singer does NOT happen over night and signing a peice of paper saying that you will become one wont make you one either. I've been going to college for 4 years for singing and acting, i've been auditioning my bum off and I'm still no further than I was a couple years ago in the business. It's hard, extreamly hard! You have to want to be a singer/actor so bad you can taste it. When you wake up in the morning it's gotta be the one thing you think about. You've gotta know that you want to spend your life standing in audition lines getting rejected over and over until finally, thank God, someone says "Hey that girl is perfect!"
I don't want to say you have no chance, because thats not true, everyone has a chance. There are the few who are just standing on a subway, or in a diner, or on the street who a casting director will go up to and then BAM their a star. BUT, I want you to be realistic about this. You are still very young and you should dream. You should also try to achieve those dreams. If your parents are willing to try and help you get into the business GOOD FOR THEM! Thats great and I really hope that you are one of the lucky few who become a child star. Then again, even being a kid in the business is hard. it's a challege and if you're up to late nights of more than just normal school homework and maybe not getting to spend as much time with your friends as normal. Then go! Go to auditions, look into local comertials, plays, musicals, ect... Do it.
