I was relieved to find this great site and have been working on my first web page.

I typed the html into the file manager and hit 'view' and it looked just right.

Using my url 'http...' I can bring up the page but in the geocities members directory it wont come up. Yahoo search either (will it do that or do I have to register it first?)

I've since used pagebuilder to just make a page saying 'under construction' in case my html was the problem and still no go.

I still don't quite understand about the FTP also. If I type my html directly into the file manager it looks good when I view it am I missing a step?

Thanks for the help =)

I remember having this problem. Did you save your page as index.html? What's happening is that the index.html that exists already is that under construction page. Delete it, and save your new page as index.html. Hope that helps :-)

Aaah, I see what you mean, geocities placeholder page needs to be deleted?

it's saved under index.html though so that parts good.

Yay, I'll go give it a try right now! Thanks!! =)

Darn, that still didn't get it.

When I type the url into where it says address (is that my browser?) it will show up just fine but when I try to list it with geocities members directory I get the 'page cannot be displayed' sign.

Since it's with yahoo, if I typed it into yahoo search shouldn't it show up there too?

i don't know what the members directory is, so I can't help you with that. sorry. I'm glad you at least got the url working though

address = browser. yes.

geocities members directory = i think it does its own thing automatically.

yahoo search = will not show up there for quite some time. a search engine will eventually pick up webpages as it scours the internet by itself.

as long as your page can be seen by typing in the address bar area, then you are good to go forward.

I posted the url elsewhere and it worked just fine so you're right that's what's important.

Thank you both for the replies and help!! =)
