I'm pondering starting up LEIA Survivor again, i think we did the first one back in about 2002/2003
I remember it generally being a lot of fun, but also a LOT of hard work which i'm not sure i have the patience for any more.

Who'd be interested in playing? sounds like a good idea?

what are the rules and stuff like that?

starlet

2 teams of 8, i set a challenge....the team that loses has to vote off a member at tribal council, after a while the teams merge into one and the challenges become individual, the winner getting immunity, everyone else at risk of being voted off at tribal council. The last 7 voted off become the 'jury' and when 2 people remain said jury pick the ultimate winner.
Also the people who arent actually on a team get to take part a bit because a lot of the challenges require a 'public vote' to pick the winner.

I'm willing to participate, either on a team or if you need help organizing the whole thing, whatever. I'm flexible :P

I don't have time to do it, but it sounds like fun. Perhaps it's a good idea to just allow people to participate who have been here for a year and who come in regularly - something like that. To prevent what happend at Secret Santa, new people signing up for it but in the end not doing their SS.

woah slow down. If we do do another it'll take me a few weeks at least to work out all the challenges (i'll probably reuse a bunch from last time as it aint easy to come up with them!!) and rules and how everything will work, THEN i'll start a thread asking for contestants, not yet, not yet.
Was just seeing if there was any interest in it :)

did we ever finish the last one? I remember at some point I was working with Karen- I don't know if we were just on the same team, or we were two left on one team, or what, but I don't remember anything beyond that. or am I thinking of something completely different?

If I'm remembering the right thing, one of the challenges was that we were given a very small portion of a screenshot of some page on LEIA, and we had to say what page it was.

I remember the last one, that was fun :D Yeah we did finish it, weren't 3 of the final people Beth, Karen and slime? I can't remember who won though.

One of the challenges was the first to get all team members to post in a thread, there was another about a puzzle (each member was given a puzzle piece/image and it had to be put together), another one had to do with fan signs...

*goes to see if old site is still up*

http://geocities.com/leiasurvivor/ - though it basically just says who got voted off, and the challenge threads are most likely gone by now!

If it ends up happening I'll try to help out as well :)

I won, slime came in second and bethy in third I believe :P It was awesome. I remember the tribe I was on had a secret site with a tagboard, it was all sneaky and stuff. And the other tribe had a section of someone's forum, but it was passord protected and we would spend a lot of time trying to guess it lol.

and...Sheila came 4th...and Dan i'm pretty sure you werent in it, or if you were you got voted off pretty early on? lol

It is pretty time consuming, when i make the thread asking for people to apply (it'll be first come first served no doubt) i'll be sure to say people should only join if they have at least some free time most days and come on the forum daily and people shouldnt play if they are going on holiday within the next month or so (it takes a while to complete ya know), its a pretty big commitment.

Other games included a 'scavenger hunt', spot the font game and making team banners/flags etc.

To those interested in helping what i really really need help with is coming up with ideas for challenges. I remember last time thinking up about 3 quaters before the game started thinking id come up with the rest along the way, but couldnt, so some of them ended up being REALLY bad (all team members have to post, pm me at a certain time, answer questions about other team!)

Karen_
04-17-2005, 02:02 AM
The scavenger hunt was really fun. There was a secret messenge thing too, the test on the other tribe members, the banner thing, and the tribe to get the highest combined score on a certain game.

My favorite though had to be the "whoever posts here first gets immunity!" lol

Sounds a lot of fun, but do you have to have certains skills to participate? I would gernerally like to be in it, but I usually am online only in the evenings (German time) and weekends. And I find that most posts are going in what is for me during the night, does it make sense at all to participate then? Or will there be teams for different time zones? (European, USA, etc)

Chris
04-17-2005, 01:07 PM
We should probably wait until summer time before we get it going, because people are more likely to be on the computer, and all the exams will be over. Although, some people will be away on holiday.

I think i'll do it, although im not sure if i'll have time just at this moment.

Patrick
04-17-2005, 07:51 PM

Marianne

I'm not organising this, so I can't tell you what the rules are, but the reason to exclude newer people, or people that keep vanishing, is that you don't want to end up with someone who's come a long way and then disappears on us. So it only makes sense to restrict this to people who've been here longer, and come in often.
However, this is the 2nd one, so there might be a 3rd one some day, and if you turn out to be one of the faithful members, you can surely sign up then.

That just reminds me... WE HAD NO SECRET STALKER PROJECT THIS YEAR!!! Did everyone just forget about that? Shannon always remembers - where has she run off to? :crying:

Patrick
04-17-2005, 09:40 PM
Owe, I've made 4.22 posts per day, I think we should include people that have around 3-4 posts per day and have been her for atleast 1-2 months.

MaGiCSuN
04-17-2005, 11:10 PM
it doesn't mean how active you are on a day
it means how faitfull you are to the forum. Wich has nothing to do with postcounts. I don't post allot lately, but that doesn't mean i never check in on this forum. I check it regulary, and when i leave for a long time i warn the fellow mods so that they know why i am not posting.

I agree with marianne, with the rule .. i think it's a good one. Especially since this game is more then a "secret santa" or "secret stalker" ..

There will be plenty of chances in years to come - that is, if you are still devoted. Anyway, nobody has actually said that you can't particiapate in it - heck, we havn't even decided whether its going ahead or not. It was merely a suggestion, because we had loads of trouble with the Secret Santa because loads of new members signed up to play, but never actually made anything for the people they were supposed to, and it create a whole kefuffle because people were not getting any gifts. We'd rather not have the same problems with this, so certain things have to be done, and if that means disallowing new members from participating, then so be it.

Patrick
04-17-2005, 11:26 PM
Yes, but if I've been a member for nearly 2 months, am I still considered "new"?

I do see your point.

starlet
04-18-2005, 01:39 AM
I don't think i'd put too strict requirements on how long people have to have been here and stuff, i seem to remember last time i just made very very clear in the thread asking for players that it was quite a commitment and that made a lot of people who would have just gone 'yeah sure, i'll be in' bite their tongues....i also remember there was about 3 people who did disapear and/or fail to take part in a challenge...and 2 of them were 'long standing/regular' members.

Theres 'punishments' any way, again cant remember exactly how it worked but if it was individual challenges and someone didnt take part they automatically lost and were kicked off, anyone who failed to get in a tribal vote on time basically voted them self off etc etc

Magln Meow

^ FYI, as i think i already said...when it comes to it i'd start a thread asking for contestants, the FIRST 16 people who say they want to play get to play (assuming they meet the yet to be decided requirements) so yes, anyone could play...but it also means you need to be online at the right time and hope theres still places left etc.

I love fear factor...*gets ideas*

Fear factor is okay, but I don't think Lissa would approve of that, though, because she could get sued. And if we did do fear factor, it wouldn't be too fun on a forum... what would we say? I dare you go into your backyard and start eating some of your dogs poop? I don't think theirs room for Fear Factor on the LEIA forum.
