I have Windows XP on my brandnew notebook :) , and I have Windows 95 on my old one. On my boyfriend's PC we use both Windows 2000 and Linux.

Somehow if you buy a computer today, it has automatically Windows XP (unless it's a Mac but they are soooooo expensive, although I would very much like to have one ). There's no way around it unfortunately. And I don't like it too much.

And I don't like it too much.

me neither, to be honest i've always liked 98 .. yes it was very basic but it did everything i needed and when i pressed ctrl + alt + del it stopped immidiately like it should so that i can stop programs that weren't working, in XP it never does that immidiately blah ..

it took me a long while to get used to it when my mom got a laptop (long time before i got my own ibook) ...

Win98 SE. Did have XP on here for a while, but it... didn't work out :P For something that's supposed to be user friendly, I didn't find it to be user friendly at all... I mean the graphics effects were practically hidden and I had to search to turn them off, and those balloon popups are so annoying... 98 may not have some of those built-in functions but at least it doesn't have a bunch of other superfluous stuff.

Yeah, same. I won't buy a new computer until Windows Longhorn comes out/pre-installed.

I have Win98 still. XP would be nice, but I'd like it to be a load more customizable... I've played around with it on some computers and it just gets on my nerves. :P

Red Hat still makes versions for servers and such, and I think they have some kind of generic edition as well- my school distributes a bunch of software titles to students, Red Hat being one of them. they offer us "Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS"- it sounds as though it's designed more for technical usage (scientific/engineering problems and software), though.

but for desktop editions, they stopped producing them and they spun off the Fedora project.
