This is awesome! I've been having a sound file problem on a website I'm building for my brother and so I've been searching for help forums I could post my question on. Anyway, I'm lazy and didn't want to re-register anywhere if I could avoid it so I type in google my old nick (duck444) I remember I started using in 2003, and up comes YOUR site with my old nick and a post of some of the regulars wishing me Happy B-Day! (It's 2 years too late but thanks everyone)!

I remembered my password and here I am again! Whew! Sorry for that long story but I thought that was funny. :)

Anyway, on to my problem:

My brother wanted a 4 sec sound file of a coughing smoker to start when the page loaded. So I created a .wav file and uploaded it to my Yahoo Briefcase. Then I took the url for the file and pasted it into the page code. I went to the site on my computer (windows Me) and heard the cough fine. Then I went on my Dad's computer (Windows XP) and didn't hear anything.
Can someone tell me if they hear the sound file play?

Thanks.

The site is here (There is no contact info on the site and no way to purchase anything).

I almost forgot. here is the html code I used for the sound file:

<EMBED SRC=" http://us.f1f.yahoofs.com/bc/6f92f92f_M40a021b5/bc/My+Documents/smoker.wav?bfiD_UCBfSFCRu8J" HIDDEN=true AUTOSTART=true>
<NOEMBED><BGSOUND SRC="http://us.f1f.yahoofs.com/bc/6f92f92f_M40a021b5/bc/My+Documents/smoker.wav?bfiD_UCBfSFCRu8J"></NOEMBED>

Thanks eveyone!,

BTW _ :cloud: I just realized the above link takes you to the files page. If you want to get to the actual site, just click on the file :" index1.html" Okay, thanks!

I can't hear the sound.

I use Windows XP, Mozilla Firefox

I think that your problem is that the soundclip is private in the Yahoo! Briefcase. When I went to the .wav URL it came up with this message:

Forbidden
You do not have permission to get the requested URL from this server.
The reason that you can hear it is because your cookies are allowing you to.

Either make the briefcase public, or upload it somewhere else.

Welcome back!! :waving:

i have just looked at your host CJB.net, (and got a website, so i can find out) but i couldn't find anything to change permissions, :(

but...

what i think you may be able to do is use an FTP program to upload your stuff. download one (smartFTP and cuteFTP are good ones. Terra-bite uses cuteFTP) and using that, you can change permissions :)
