Generally, no. Whatever work you did is yours. However, you really can "file" a copyright claim to a certain work if you wish, but that might cost.

You are not required to register work in order for it to be copyrighted but if the work is of high value it is definitely in your best interests to register it with the US Copyright Office. There is a fee for registration of each piece of work. It's my understanding that if someone steals your work, you cannot file a lawsuit if you have not registered the work.

Actually, I think it's legally copyrighted if you just put the symbol and the date. It is probably best to register though.
