How do you install GIMP? (www.gimp.org) i really want it, i have Linux and this is the first graphic program i have found that works on linux, but i just can't figure out how to install it. can someone help me by maybe making a step by step instructions?

Well, you're going to have to compile it to create the executable. There are many free compilers out there; doing a search either on Google, Yahoo, or the forum might turn up some free compilers. You have to download alot of files. Are you on dial-up 56k? If you are, count on at least 1 hour or 2 to get the files themselves; 1-2 to get a compiler. I like Borland C++. I got it off a book that I found in my local library. You can go HERE (http://library.n0i.net/linux-unix/applications/graphics/gimp/teach%20yourself%20gimp%20in%2024%20hours/ch01/01-03.html). That is for Sams Teach yourself GIMP in 24 hours. Please note that if you haven't compiled any program before, search for an already-compiled package. HIH :D

i have no idea what your talking about, lol sorry. but what is a compiler? and i don't have dial up. whats the other one called? grr can't remember, but its not dialup its extreamly fast... lol sorry. umm is there a step by step instruction thingy i can do? i have no idea what to do otherwise...

There obviously isin't an option to just press a button to install. If they had that it would of been there by default...

I doubt anyone would write a full instruction list on how to do it, so just read what's there and ask us about the steps you don't understand!
