I have paint shop pro 7 and I was wondering how you would make a graphics like this http://refined-tutorials.cjb.net like their layout. i'm wondering how you would make the small light rays and such=)

It looks like a lot of brushes on an overlay layer to me. Or if you could be more specific about "small light rays"...

I meant small light rays like how some parts of the layout was bright and some part of it wasn't and like the difference in the brithness^^; Sry I'm bad at explaining...

Do you think she used swirly brushes and such? Lol=)

Swirly brushes are much more "girly". I'm afraid I can't describe the "brushes" she's using (if they are brushes), but they look like stretched liquid. Also, it seems that there are some shapes in the image (circles). Those, of course, are preset shapes available in PSP.

Ahhh thanks^^ Do you know how to make like some parts of an image brighter and then like some bright spots and some darker spots?

Duplicate your layer or create a new layer and set it to "overlay".

But the overlay just blends the color in with the image, thanks for telling me^^ is there any other way to make some spots light and some places darker?

Overlay should do that...
It should make the light areas lighter, and the dark areas darker (the image needs to already have light and dark areas...like a sky against some dark water, or something). If that doesn't work, try dodge.

If you know which spots you'd like darker/lighter, try using the retouch tool. It's a nifty tool :)

This is only one way -- To make areas lighter, you could select lighten RGB (mess around with the setting until you get a visible effect) and go over the area you want to lighten. Afterwards, if you want to increase the contrast between colours, use saturation up and go around the area you just lightened.

Ah okay I"ll try overlay=)

I tried using the retouch tool and the lighten RGB part^^ It worked pretty well, but how would i make it look smoother like more naturally blended in rather than just like a really light spot put there? Lol, btw what do you mean by contrast? Sry I'm just really dumb^^;;;

Contrast is the amount of difference between the lightest and the darkest areas in a photo or artwork.

Ahh okay thanks!!! Would saturation help kinda blend together the colors?
