I would like to first off emphasize how impressed I am with this site. I was introduced to this site three years ago and I have been an avid (yet silent) fan since. Well done Lissa, and may the future only hold the greatest of success for you.

I am not one that usually posts on boards regularly, I find myself watching and listening more than talking, but it seems that this would be the ideal place to seek out a bit of advice for an upcoming project I am pursuing. You see, I have had much success with my gaming site, Verasia, but as time has pushed on, I've found myself yearning to create a site more inclined towards girls (opposed to Verasia, which generally appeals to boys). I am currently studying child development at the University of Wyoming, which inevitably lead me to this upcoming project.

I want to develop a site dedicated to adolescents and teenage girls focusing on advice. A "Dear Abby" site if you will. I could go on and on about the features that I plan to provide, but that is not the purpose of this post. I am actually seeking guidance in advertising such a site and the economic situation. You see, Verasia is fully funded by myself, I have found no way to allow it to pay off it's own debts, so I am forced to pay for the required features each month. I was wondering how a site, like this, is funded. For all I know, Lissa could be in the same situation as I am with Verasia, but it seemed reasonable to inquire.

Also, though I have mastered advertising a gaming site, this different genre leaves me a bit clueless. I've always believed the word of mouth is the most powerful advertising, but it will be difficult to switch gears and meet a different consumer group. Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you again for reading this post and for any advice you may give. I hope to hear from someone soon, and more importantly, I hope to get to know all of you! Have a great day.

<off topic>Is that signature allowed? I mean it's sorda advertising a bit (yet dont quote me on that) If you people to visit your site go to my profile and edit the Homepage thingy. Or if you already did just leave it be but exclude the siggy! </off topic>

<off topic> Ah, most forums I go to that is the purpose of a signature, but if it is against the rules here I will gladly change it. I meant no harm, it's simply the signature I always use. :) I'm a bit lost on the second comment though.. but either way, I apologize if I've broken a rule!</off topic>

<off topic> I'll make a point not to. ;) Though any advice on the actual topic? I'm very anxious to hear what the public has to say! </off topic>

It is indeed against the rules, id appreciate it if you could change it, save Lissa a job. No harm done though, like you say...most forums allow it.

As for your question, are you looking for information on advertisments on your site to help you pay for it, or ways to advertise your own site...or both?

Both would be lovely, but whatever you can provide would be sufficient.
