Hi There:)

I was wondering if anyone had the slightest clue as to where to get the code for a special method to protecting your graphics? There's some kind of code where when someone takes a custom designed graphic from your site and puts it on theirs it'll say "I still this from yoursite.com" within minutes.

I'm currently making a numerous amount of graphics on my site and people are already stealing my material:( Please help

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. do you mean you want to stop people from direct linking? if so, search Lissa's site for .htaccess

Well that makes two of us:( lol I have no idea how to explain some things. Well thanks!

There's this special code. When you take a graphic from a site, with in minutes a message pops up that says "I took the from lissaexplains.com" (lissa explainsc.com only used for example). For instance, I seen a post a member made telling Lissa that someone took her color chart. Well on the person's site, within about 5 minutes a message would be on the graphic (or in this case her color chart) that says "I took this from LissaExplains.com". I was asking for the code:) Hope that helped?

Ok, I don't want to look like a total dork (too late lol) but what is direct linking and why is it so bad? I have a clue as to what it is, I'm not sure though.

Is it when an image has your site url when someone views its properties? And if so, I thought that was a good thing? Like a sort of way to advertise when people want to know where someone got an image from?

Somebody directly links to an image by using the URL of the original image (on the original server) instead of saving and uploading it onto their own. the problem with this is that it uses up bandwidth on the server the image is on.

if the image was direct linked (see below), thats probably why that image shows up saying it was taken from another site

direct linking is displaying an image (or using any other file) on your page that is stored on another server. when someone does that, rather than saving it to their own server, it uses the bandwidth on the server on which the file is stored, while you have use of their image. that in turn costs the owner of the other site money in bandwidth costs
