Try google. I have searched high and low for affordable chat room program but nothing beets(sp) Flash MX! So, I would say you're on the right track, but you need help setting it up? Please explain more :)

The way most of the flash chat rooms work is that that the actual chat room is coded with something like php or perl. Then they put animations around the chat to make it look better.

if you're using a free host, they do not usually support PHP and the like, so you'll probably have to go with a chatroom by Bravenet or some other service, rather than program your own in Flash.
B.t.w., since you're 12, do you have parental permission to post on this board?

if your host does not support php or something like that, there IS no way you can set up your chatroom, it's not that we don't want to help you, it's just not possible.
If you need help setting up a Bravenet chatroom, I'm sure there's plenty ppl who have done that and who are willing to help you, but then you should probably post your question in the 'website goodies' section of this forum.

k but the bravenet one is only 2D chat and not 3D:(..... and bravenet is only free for 1 year!

then I guess you'll have to search for another free chat thing, because this just cannot be done with free web providers.
But perhaps someone knows of another good free chat thing in the website goody section, you might want to ask them.

Ok then,
Can you give us an example of a 3D chat room? Are you sure it's Flash? It could very well be Java.

Woah, rockboyteek, I used to play habbo and I once thought I could make 'another habbo'... But it never happened. People at Sulake (habbo's company) were like 25 when they created habbo not 12 (?!). It takes SO much time and effort. So before you go about learning Macromedia Flash (takes a while) think about weather you really want to spend all your money learning to code it and all your time on it... I'm 15 now and Im creating a habbo fansite. It's much much MUCH easier than another chat community.

Now I'm not trying to judge you by saying that your not going to ever make it, but it rarely happens. It's just a stage you go through in your habbo life. . . .

I think it is possible using ASP.

Yes, when I say "PHP or something like that" - ASP, to me, is listed under 'something like that' - free hosts don't support that.

bravenet is not only free for a year.

hmm.. what if you make a database. The flash reconnects every second to the database. Everything you type will be put in that database. so users can see it.

It isn't very friendly. if you have around 100 users that are querying every second to the database, it won't like that :P

I don't have very much experience with php <-> flash though

it'll be much easier if you can use a flashcom server to run a chat/game since macromedia's flashcom servers are designed for real-time events o.O you can download the developers version at macromedias website. me and a friend are currently running a game through a flashcom server ^_^

1asphost (http://www.1asphost.com) does support both flash and ASP.
