I am looking to buy a domain soon and can't find a host that I like with a reasonable price other than possibly dreamworks, but I need options.

ASP.NET capabilities
PHP capabilities
CGI-BIN storage
use of Perl
Unlimited Bandwith (if possible)
MySQL database capabilities
subdomains
FTP capabities
and capable service =)

The only thing I have found that is great is cyberpixels but they aren't going to have ASP.NET capabilities for a month or so (so they think) but they said it will more than likely take a lot longer.

Any suggestions?

just so you know, there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. if any host offered truly unlimited bandwidth, they would be bankrupt in no time.

Actually, there is one out there. The only problem is it doesn't have SQL, ASP, or Subdomains. And they are quite a booming business. But since they are the only one I know of Unlmtd doesnt matter, but I would like to have the possibility of around 1mill hits or so at a time give or take some.

a lot of hosts say they offer unlimited bandwidth, but none actually do. always read the terms of service carefully, because there is always a restirction. usually they will say that they don't limit it unless you are using an excessive amount of server resources. but 'excessive' is completely arbitrary. what's to prevent them from saying that 1GB/month is excessive?

Whatever. I read the fine print, I talked to users of the services and it all points to you are incorrect. Anyways, your comments arent helping me find a domain and it's not like I said it HAS to be unlimited bandwith. I just said if possible, meaning if it does great if not oh well. Please don't reply unless you can help me. Thank you.

Hm. Website is quite well I dunno I also judge web companies on how they present their sites and this one isn't too well. I can't tell what sort of scripts they host either =(.

judging by the fact that their website says 'CGI server access' and 'PHP4', I'm guessing they host CGI and PHP scripts. Just a guess though.

and if this isn't helpful, I apologize for even thinking about posting.

and about unlimited bandwidth (or lack of): http://www.unlimband.com

The main thing is SQL and ASP.NET .. which I don't see listed on the page for that webserver. Any other suggestions (just for as many options as possible).

Dan is only trying to help, theres no such thing as unlimited anything as far as webhosts go and i personally (and many other people) wouldnt touch a host that claims to have that with a 10 foot barge poll as right from the start their trying to con you...but if you dont mind that thats your call :D

Try http://www.webhostingtalk.com its a forum specifically for finding a host...just do a search for the things you want and read up what people say about the hosts that you get in the results.

Thanks! And, yea sorry Dan. I just get edgy when ppl go against me and there was another message deal thing where I was sorta edgy. Hopefully no harm done...

i strongly DO NOT recommended Active Web Hosting. There have been numerous complaints by hosts and also here in the form.

here are a few that i can think of at the top of my head:

http://wizardshosting.com [very good..i use them]

http://e-starr.net [ive recently heard of them]

http://networksolutions.com [a bit pricey but they have good service I've heard]

I'll think of more later :)

as for the unlimited bandwidth issue, it's all about false advertising, and same goes for unlimited storage/disk space.

i use active web hosting myself and they are fine they host all that stuff and unlimited bandwidth only bad part is whenever you call you get an answering machine and have to leave a message, they also dont do subdomains.. but you can do what i do and for a subdomain do like www.yoursite.com/servers/[subdomain name]

I like IPowerWeb (http://www.ipowerweb.com). I've been there for a year, and have no complaints whatsoever :)

Whatever you do, do NOT go with Globat. Their service and support sucks. The address they provide on their website as their "High Tech Webcenter" is a small, junky warehouse in downtown LA.
