I wondered about that too, so I did a little search.

You go this way file(from the main toolbox)>acquire>screen shot and then choose other options

you could also just press the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard

it does the same thing - just copies your screen and then you just paste it wherever you need it

works with any graphics program too!

Actually you can't. Gimp won't paste that way.

Actually you can. You just have to understand that the GIMP distinguishes between the source of what you're trying to paste - whether you're pasting from inside or outside the program. For copying & pasting strictly within the GIMP, you use Paste, but for pasting from the clipboard (which is where your screenshot is stored when you use the Print Screen button), there's a specific, seperate paste function for that: Paste From Clipboard. In the toolbox window (main GIMP window), you can find it under File > Acquire > From clipboard; in an individual image window, look under Edit > Paste from clipboard (bottom of the list).

It seems more like acquiring than typical pasting, but that doesn't really matter.
I have a LOT to learn about this program and it was a nice thing to know.
