Ok so this computer has had many many peer to peer clients installed on it. everythign from winmx to Kazaa to bittorrent. The ports used by bittorrent are fine currently. But in the last few days i have found that i have been getting tonnes of trojans, password loggers, and virii. Problem is, we no longer have these clients installed, nor have we downloaded anythign on thsi computer in the last 3 months. (next to normal old web pages). So why should you watch out for them? People are using these ports to connect to my computer and download these trojans, even though i dont even have the clients any more. How much is it happening to you ask? I installed Zonealarm yesterday. The computer has been turned on for about 9 hours total since then. So far, the fire wall has blocked over 230 attempts to connect to this computer via those peer to peer ports. So be careful.

I personally use 2 firewalls, 3 ad/spyware scanners and 2 antivirus programs. You can never be too safe!

like Mirna said- this is nothing new. many p2p programs come bundled with adware and spyware that pretty much open you up to anything.

thats what u get when you use p2p lol... if you use it your just asking for trouble... since anti viris cant detect all virises/trojans sometimes untill its too late... so best just to not use p2p at all...

tell me about it. I installed the lastest version of Kazaa the other day because WinMX (which really never put any spy/ad ware on my computer) stopped working for some reason. Well, the new thing with Kazaa is that it doesn't contain any Spyware... That may be the case but the Adware is UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Thankfully I was warned about Kazaa before I even dl'ed it. Everyone recommended LimeWire. That's what I use and it hasn't given me any problems yet.
