View Full Version : What's your favourite film, and why?
beautiful_scot 02-26-2005, 05:20 PM What's your favourite film, and why?
Mine's probably either of the last two in the Mariachi trilogy (so Desperado or Once Upon a Tme in Mexico) because...
Antonio Banderas is in them
They have the most amazing soundtracks
I love action films
I'm fascinated with Mexico and Latin America
Parts of it are in Spanish, which is such a gorgeous language (and I can understand half of it! Go me!) :)
Anyway, now that you know I'm mad about these films, what is/are your favourite film(s)?
lefty 02-26-2005, 06:07 PM My absolute favorite is The Matrix, because I'm a geek :P
wergo 02-26-2005, 08:48 PM I like too many movies to pick a favoriate :) Theres just so much and I cant name them all! ummm Matrix, Titanic, Internal affairs, Rush hour, rush hour 2, blue moon, scary movie 1-3 >.<
DisturbedOne 02-26-2005, 09:24 PM Mine would have to Oceans 11. Because well i dunno its just a great movie.
kittycat 02-26-2005, 09:35 PM The Matrix, LOTR and Back to the Future trilogies are good... so is Napoleon Dynamite just because it's so stupid :P I think my favourite kids cartoon movie might be Finding Nemo, but favourite of all it's too tough to decide.

aerith86 02-26-2005, 10:44 PM I can't pick an actual favourite, but I have a few that are tied for 1st place.
"Boiler Room" - I love Giovanni Ribisi, and it just has that special something that I latched onto. Funny, great acting, just all around superb.
"When Harry Met Sally" - Classic Meg Ryan film. I love everything Meg Ryan, and this is the one romantic movie that I always cry at no matter what.
"Amelie" - Gorgeous film making, Audrey Tatou and Mathieu Kassovitz are spectacular together (not to mention, he's gooooooooorgeous). It's quirky and romantic. I took a picture of a photo booth in the Metro in Paris because of this movie!
AggieMae 02-26-2005, 11:45 PM I love soooo many movies, but what comes to mind is Eraser, with Ahnollld Schwahtzen-egger.
It's weird because when I was pregnant with my 4th child, I had this "craving" for Action/Adventure movies. And I saw that movie 5 times! Don't ask me why, it's still a mystery to me.
britney_rocks23 02-26-2005, 11:48 PM I love The Notebook! So sad. :( I also love Crossroads (Britney Spears's movie) It was cute in a cheesy way. But it's not as bad as some people make it out to be.
Frodo's Girl 02-27-2005, 02:36 AM I  all the Lord of the Rings movies b/c they are awesome and they also have Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortenson, and Orlando Bloom :hehe:

sebluver 03-05-2005, 02:33 PM I love, absolutely LOVE, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It has everything. Love! Anger! Underwear parties!
After that is Royal Tenenbaums, of course. An underrated movie, indeed.
Seven11 03-05-2005, 04:02 PM Erghh... I don't have a favorite, yet at the same time I have to many Long list...
Here we go (not in order, just randomized):
Marry Poppins, it's really Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious.
Baby's Day Out, funny funny movie.
Finding Nemo, who doesen't like a fish that can read, sharks that try to give up eating fish, a buck-toothed fish, and big giant 'but' floating in the ocean.
The Ring, i'm dying to see the second one. It's creepy, but awesome.
Miss Congeniality, I love that movie, and trying to patiently wait for the sequeal.
LOTR, I like all three. They're just plain good.
POTC, I love this movie. My favorite part is when you first see Cap. Jack in is sinking boat.
Monsters Inc, hehehe who doesen't love this movie?
Bug's Life, "...Whoa, she's a guy!" Funny movie.
Veggie Tales, all of them. Larry and Bob shall never rot!
Elf, one of the best christmas movies ever!
Toy Story, 1 and 2. I love those movies.
I'm going to stop now, I have more but I don't want to end up taking a lot of space, just part of it like I did.
lefty 03-05-2005, 04:13 PM Elf, one of the best christmas movies ever!
The other being A Christmas Story, naturally ;)
Seven11 03-05-2005, 04:31 PM Yes, that is so very true.
Intrepid 03-06-2005, 01:56 AM I can't pick one favorite...but here's my list :)
Favorite Foreign Film: Maria Full of Grace: Columbian Drug Mule..a must watch
Comedy: way way way too many:
Just Married (Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy can be quite an act)
There's Something About Mary (Hilarious! Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller..woot)
and many more...
Horror Film:
Dawn of The Dead- First "horror" film thats left me...well..horrified..in a long time.
Animated/Disney/Cartoony Films:
Beauty and the Beast: I swear..I'll be 89 and still loving it.
Finding Nemo...need I even explain?
Monsters Inc...cute
Mulan...wow...finally a non Caucasian Princess! lol..not that I mind...but seriously...they couldn't all be with "fair skin..as white as snow" :P
Pocahontas..erm..not blonde and blue eyed?
Action/Thriller Film:
I've liked several, but they all have a sub-genre that could go with "comedy" or "romance"...
Rush Hour 1 & 2- Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker...no greater combo! (by the way..is it just me..or is it a coincidence that a lot of these "action/thriller" films have a white and black detective combo ALL the time...seriously..check it out)
Erm...there are MANY more..real Action stuff to excite and action buff...but I forgot their names...so..yeah.
Action/Thriller/Fight:
Hero: Not exactly my fave...but it was pretty good..I would have preffered renting it though. Jet Li and the whole cast were pretty ^^^^ good.
..and many films dealing with the stereotypical idea that all Chinese men learn to fight at birth :)
Horror/Mind Twist:
Red Dragon - Hannibal Lector, anyone? Silence of the Lambs comes to mind...
there was a different film I wanted to put..it was really good, but like most of my faves..I forgot the name :confusion:
__________________________________________________ _________
This isn't the list of faves I would have liked to have made..but alas...my memory for movie titles is simply pathetic. These will have to do.
Oh and...I remember Harriet the Spy ;)
WAIT!
There were so many movie genre's I wanted to list..can't remember them all...but one!
Tear Jerker Film:
The Green Mile-hands down...one of the greatest tear jerking films ever.
Right next to "Schindler's List"...even more sorrowful...
Intrepid 03-06-2005, 02:03 AM oops...I might have ranted a bit there...
darklitch 03-06-2005, 02:26 AM I would have to say... The mummy. I just love that movie. I have literaly memorised the entire movie. From the begining to the end!
Margo 03-06-2005, 05:08 AM A lot of people say Donnie Darko is really weird and they didn't get it at all. Maybe I can rent it someday and see. My favorite movies are:
In America - lovely movie about an Irish family that movies to America...sounds cheesy, but I didn't think it was.
I am Sam - a mentally retarded man loses custody of his daughter and enlists the help of a lawyer to get her back. I have seen it so many times.
Garden State - don't know what to say about it; I thought the acting was great and the soundtrack is too!

I'm surprised, too. When it came to DVD, EVERYONE was going out to buy it, and a lot of posters and stuff for it popped up and were sold out. There are a ton of people who love that movie, but they're just not at LEIA.
MaGiCSuN 03-06-2005, 05:52 PM sisqoluv, me n u r the only ppl who's favorite movies SCARFACE?!?!?!? i thought there would be a lot more, but ya that movies is the best
well yeah you probably have to like that sort of movie, it's a movie that you love or hate.
Like i know plenty that hated "Ocean's eleven" but i loved it because ofthe way it was made etc.
(and i hate scarface aswell :P whaha)
Lynda-Rae 03-08-2005, 02:18 AM my favourite movie is definately one of the Austin Powers Trilogy. I love Mike Myers' sense of humour and how he acted out most of the characters himself. That would have taken alot of work.
