I swear I've seen this thread before. I've searched the forum and I couldn't find anything. I was wondering.... what's the difference between windows messenger and MSN messenger. They seem pretty much the same, except for the number of versions and a couple extra features. Anything big that separates the two?

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the name was changed for Windows XP, from MSN Messenger to Windows Messenger. so basically they're the same thing, just a different name.

Hm... I have Windows Messenger at the moment. Do you think I should download MSN Messenger anyways? (just for the extra features and the better smilies)

to do that you'd have to look for a WINDOWS MESSENGER uninstall code... you can search on google for UNINSTALL WINDOWS MESSENGER and you'll find one... I undid mine for awhile and used MSN 5.0, but I personally liked Windows better :)
