hello,
i don't really know where this topic really belongs but
i've been searching all day and haven't found the answer that i'm looking for
hope someone can help me with this

i want to know if there's a way where i can make a feathery or fading effect on the edge of an image beside using image editing programs

i've tried using photoshop cs to give the image a feathery edge but when i save it as gif the image sorta get distorted and became a blob-ish blocky-ish effect

i want the image to fade into the background image with a cloud-ish effect
in another word i want the edges of the image to fade into transparency

thanks in advance

if you could do that without using a picture editing program, it would probably only work in IE.
Why don't you try to solve the problem you are having with photoshop. It should save fine.
Give us a link to the image.

As Rosey said, there is no way to do that without an image editing program. However, most programs, however basic should do it. You need to get a selection tool, set a feather on it, and just cut out the picture with it.

since you have photoshop, you can use the smudge tool to get the kind of effect that your looking for...if it doesnt look good as gif, save it as jpg...it usually works on jpg.
