Thats just wrong!!! Parents should know their place and leave that for the kids >.< oh and btw "fear" is ofter written as p|-|33|2 without the a =P i teh pwnz Monkey Bizzle 02-18-2005, 01:17 PM ...btw "fear" is ofter written as p|-|33|2 without the a =P... oh? i guess i'm not l33t enough then... ::cries:: seriously tho... I just copied and pasted that from the MS site. i thought it was funny cause I was imagining some old guy who was writing that and thinking of examples to use and thought of that. "ARGH! ph34r my l33t skillz!! RAWR!" Sphere 02-18-2005, 01:41 PM i teh pwnz I are teh pwn is better imo :p sisqoluv 02-18-2005, 07:33 PM Numbers are often used as letters. The term "leet" could be written as "1337," with "1" replacing the letter L, "3" posing as a backwards letter E, and "7" resembling the letter T. "0" (zero) will typically replace the letter "O." Wow! It just blows the mind! "w00t" or the smiley character \o/: A common interjection, analogous to "woohoo!" You see, Parents; being aware of this information can help you protect your kids online. Owlie42 02-18-2005, 07:53 PM "n00b," "noob," "newbie," or "newb": Combinations synonymous with new user. Some leetspeekers view "n00b" as an insult and "newbie" as an affectionate term for new users. Yet another piece of information that parents may use to keep their kids out of trouble. Katja 02-18-2005, 08:29 PM I honestly didn't know what most of that stuff meant, and I'm a kid!! I guess I am too caught up in books written in the English language to understand...:) aerith86 02-18-2005, 08:40 PM I do know some of the more common ones (i.e. "n00b", "w00t", "teh", "pwns") but I'm not exactly up to date with it all :) wergo 02-18-2005, 09:13 PM lol anyone that plays an online game will quickly catch up on l33t talk since people use it all the time. Munchkin 02-19-2005, 01:11 AM j00 rox0rs. The more parents try to decipher l33tspeak...the more difficult kids are going to make it. :P dudepet39 02-19-2005, 01:29 AM I think parents are kind of worried that there kids will mistakedly youse those words in their "educational" learning. Like writting essays and stuff. But I dont see why Microsoft has to do that..lol. tokyo bleu 02-19-2005, 04:57 AM I think parents are kind of worried that there kids will mistakedly youse those words in their "educational" learning. Like writting essays and stuff. I don't think it's the parents, I think it'd be the teachers. Many of my classmates use chatspeak when they're actually writing in class and I constantly correct them, being the smart snob that I can be. :hehe: Anyways, I bookmarked that Microsoft page. Priceless. Katja 02-20-2005, 01:04 AM so what about p|-|33r my |4x oph l33t skillz ? Does that work, I'm just learning? Magln Meow 02-20-2005, 08:25 PM I hate l33t. :dead: It's so annoying, I can understand it and all but it's so... grr! Munchkin 02-21-2005, 04:48 AM ^ My friend once wrote her entire MSN name is l33t. It drove me CRAZY. Ellentheratgirl 02-21-2005, 06:19 AM "Grammar is rarely used" Duh! salomeyasobko 02-21-2005, 08:58 AM "m4d sk1llz" or "mad skills": Refers to one's own talent. hahaha who even says that?? that made me "lol" :P that was actually a pretty thorough explanation though, i was surprised that they picked up on the "pwned" and "roxors" and "teh" stuff.. hmm i wonder if they figured that stuff out on their own or had younger folk tell 'em? Valkyrie 02-21-2005, 09:49 AM Oh man, I know all that stuff in the article. I must spend way too much time online and playing mmorpgs. Hehe, theres even an article on greifers at the microsoft page. Dutch.American 02-21-2005, 01:02 PM That is too funny. t's like a scientist explaining how to cut bread, and even makes that sound confusing. That's some pretty cr45y 57uff. :D Rickyhos 02-22-2005, 12:37 AM My 4|/\/\ screen name is r3d bull3t... that is about all the 1337 I use. lol < most I have used in one sentence. Nikkular 02-22-2005, 01:23 AM I dunno, that stuff is way to confusing for me! It drives me nuts when people type with numbers instead of letters. You would think since i'm a 'teen' i would know all of this.....well i knew some of it but not those number thingys..... Monkey Bizzle 02-22-2005, 03:27 AM hahaha who even says that?? (about mad skills) I do! Not necessarily the exact phrase "Mad skills" but I do still use the word mad to mean a lot. I also still say "phat." Does anyone else still use that word? wergo 02-22-2005, 04:26 AM eveyone says mad skills in real life but I dont know anyone that uses it online. Usually nowadays people just say skillz or skillzzles or skittles to say they have skill, sisqoluv 02-22-2005, 05:20 AM eveyone says mad skills in real life :confusion Uh... |
