Just a couple of questions I've had about how this works. First of all how do you create an avatar? and second of all how do you become a moderator? Finally, why are some threads "hot" threads? I am just curious, and have not been able to figure out the answers on the site. I know I am a long way from either, if I ever make it, just curious.

You can create an avatar with any image editor like photoshop or paint. However, the requirements for having an avatar on this forum is to have 500 posts (set by administrator). Moderators are picked by Lissa, the only way to become a moderator on this forum is if you ask Lissa but I doub't she'd make anybody thats new into a moderator.

correction, the only way to become a moderator is if Lissa asks YOU. not the other way around. one thing you DON'T want to do is ask if you can be a moderator.

You don't have been around since creation, some mods including me are "just" around for 2 years. Its more the need for mods on a particular section. The chance is very small that someone that just signed up will become a mod, since we don't know you and don't know if we can trust you. Also i think at the moment there is no need for more mods.
