Okay im looking to buy more ram. Ive got 70.00 dollars to play with. I'm looking for atleased 128 mbs of ddr ram. Will help please help me??

this may or may not be an option for you but I got 512MB of DDR on eBay brand new for $50.

ebay really doesnt appeal to me i mean you really never know if its gonna work and other things like that.

you should have more faith in people... i only buy from people who have high feedback ratings. in this particular situation, there are PLENTY of people that have stores and sell thru eBay. it seems that they specialize in selling computer memory. With over 4000 positive feedbacks, you can't go wrong. I have personally dealt with them and have absolutely NO complaints.

what you should buy depends on your system.

the numbers after DDR indicate the speed. basically, the higher the number, the faster (I don't remember the exact speeds for the different numbers). however, there's no point in spending more money on something faster that will do you no good- the speed is limited by the front speed bus of the processor and the motherboard, so if it's speed is 200 MHz and you buy 400 MHz RAM, it will still run at 200 MHz.

so we need more information on your system to be able to recommend anything :P

DDR means dual data rate.. for every clock cycle it can transfer 2 bits.. so if the chip runs on 200 MHz we say it runs on 400MHz

DDR2 is the next generation DDR but i'm 99% sure that your motherboard won't support it.

PCxxx indicated the speed of it
PC2100 -> 2100MB/sec
PC2700 -> 2700MB/sec
PC3200 -> 3200MB/sec

The speed of it is directy linked to the frequentie of the chip.
Say you have PC3200 then the chip can run on 400MHz, 2700 on 333MHz and so on.

You can see wich speeds are supported by looking at on wich frequentie your FSB (front side bus) is running. It "must" be the same speed

Well considering I didnt build this pc i really cant give you much info on it, but i do know im running a 1ghz AMD processor With 32 mbs of ram. Maybe i should call the guy who made it and ask him what i should go with then.

its unlikely that you just have 32MB of ram.
And i'm pretty sure that you need SDR SDRAM (singe data rate synchronous dynamic ramdom access memory)

its some older then DDR SDRAM. Because it is not much in production, the prices can be too high for what you get. A good choice is to buy it secondhand. i think you need SDR SDRAM on 133MHz.

I got a AMD Athlon thunderbird 1.3GHz on 100FSB (DDR)wich uses 133MHz SDR SDRAM

hmm it seems to be possible.. the only way you can be sure of it is or use a program that gives your pc information (CPUz will do, otherwise Sisoft Sandra)
or search information about your motherboard
or get the other memory chip and see whats on it.

No I promise you im running 32 mbs of ram. Cause one time i bought a game that required 64 mbs of ram and i never noticed it. The games menu would come to were i could select play but when the game tryed loading, it flaged me saying i didnt have enough ram. So i closed out All the programs that i didn't need and tryed again still flagged me with ram problems. That and when i first start my pc up it will say 32 mbs of ram also.

then you definitly need an upgrade lol, put it 512mb or something and it goes alot smoother
