I watched some sports channels, and it shows the coverage of the NHL 2004/2005 season cancellation.

What do you think about the NHL '04/05 season being cancelled?

Oh! I urge you to visit these sites:

Finally, salary caps. Not just hockey players, but every single type of entertainer is so overpaid it's ridiculous. Millions of dollars for a stupid game, or one half-hour tv show taping.

Yes, they are important because they inspire people and are role models to some people, and also because they keep us entertained and our minds off of unpleasantries in the world today, but they don't need millions and millions of dollars that could be spent on feeding the hungry, fixing towns, finding cures, or paying the salaries of important, underpaid jobs. Teachers, mentors, and many others.

People are just too greedy. They don't care that this will affect a lot of businesses in the cities where hockey games are played out. I know many hotels and restaurants that count on the hockey crowd are definitely not going to make as much money this year.

Sorry for the rant

I am really sad, we were going to go to a lot of penguins games this year, and I was going to start getting back into hockey.... but now there is a full year without it and just blows my mind that an actual sports league cancelled their season.

I dunno.

Well, there's other sports like Basketball, US/Canadian football, baseball, Soccer (Football for you Europeans), Lacrosse, swimming, Track and Field, Curling, Bike race, Triathon, Marathon, auto racing, horse racing...That's all I know

And every 4 years... The Olympics!

In 2004, The Summer Olympics was held in Athens, Greece

The Summer games will be held every 4 years, as well as the Winter Games.

Summer games: ...2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020...
Winter games: ...1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018...

See ya next season, NHL! (maybe).

In the poll, only the majority of the poll vote under: "Who's to blame?" is both owners and players. No votes are cast saying the Owners going to blame. (as of this posting). Only 1 vote under Players.

I love hockey and stuff, but around here people have been crazy about the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) due to the lack of NHL, so I think that even when the NHL does come back, they're going to lose a lot of fans to other sports and leagues. I also think it would have been stupid to start the "season" now, it probably wouldn't have started till at least March, and usually PlayOffs begin in late April/Early May so the whole season would delayed, and yeah there would have been bad reactions.

So toodles NHL, I'll live the year without you.

they cancelled it once for the flu, they said it was a 2 year thing.

ARGH! Some hockey would have been better than no hockey!!!

:crying:

My question is, will they have all this squared away for next season?

They say there's going to be hockey next season, but I guess it all depends on if they come to a compromise.

Talks say they will have it fixed by next season. And some one mentioned earlier that they are going to lose fans. I say as long as the good, star players stay here or come back here from the Russian league that no fans will leave.

And chances are that the players will come back seeing as how they are making 1/3 of the salary they made in the NHL.

Oh yes, it the grand year of 1919. My mistake; This is the first time any North American sport has been entirely cancelled due to labor dispute.
