View Full Version : Ibook or Powerbook??
Rickyhos 02-12-2005, 08:53 PM Hello guys, I remember we had a debate on this earlier. But I was wondering I might be selling my dirt bike and that would leave me with about 2,500 dollars. I was wondering guys, what is the best laptop Apple has? I want an apple for my laptop mainly because I love apple, and anything windows that I need will be on my desktop HP.
So it would be according to this,
-12 inch screen
- which one is more powerful?
-Smaller?
-Lighter?
-More dourable?
Thanks guys, I posted this is because some of you have one, and I am really excited to learn that my dad will let me sell the bike for it!
tokyo bleu 02-12-2005, 09:35 PM 12" screen - Both come in the size, but PowerBook is just a bit bigger (12.1").
Powerful - PowerBook is more powerful (hence the name 'PowerBook).
Lighter - PowerBook is 4.6 pounds, iBook is 4.9 pounds.
I'd advise you to look here though...

My classmate has a 12" PowerBook and let me say, it is SMALL and it very much lives up to its name of being a PowerBook. It's very nice and extremely portable. It really depends on what you're going to use it for though.
Unfortunately, I won't be voting in the poll because I have no experience with either of these Apple notebooks, only observation.
Chris 02-12-2005, 09:37 PM First of all, in my opinion, I would go for the iBook.
As for your questions:
12 inch screen
Both are available with a 12" screen
Which one is more powerful?
iBook - 1.2GHz G4 processor (Roughly 1.6GHz Pentium 4)
Powerbook - 1.6GHz (Roughly 1.8GHz Pentium 4)
Smaller?
iBook - 28.5 x 23.0 x 3.42 (cm)
Powerbook - 27.7 x 21.9 x 3.0 (cm)
Lighter?
iBook - 2.2 kg (4.9 pounds)
Powerbook - 2.1 kg (4.6 pounds)
More durable?
iBook - Nothing said
Powerbook - Equiped with "Sudden Motion Sensor" to prevent data loss
Rickyhos 02-12-2005, 09:41 PM Well I could get the 14" ibook for only like 15 dollars more,
These are the settings I have;
Memory: 1.25 GB
Hard Drive: 80GB
For both....
But the other question is do I need a superdrive? Or is that for bruning things only, the most I will be doing is songs, and a combo drive, to my knowledge, is enough for that.

Chris 02-12-2005, 10:44 PM Your welcome :)
Monkey Bizzle 02-12-2005, 10:48 PM I will never understand how people can use a laptop with such a small screen! How can you do it without going blind!
Rickyhos 02-12-2005, 11:10 PM I am using a flat screen 17" and it is huge. I can imagine that a 14" is not that small. But I cannot wait, ^_^ so excited.
MaGiCSuN 02-13-2005, 12:27 AM i wouldn't choose the 12" either, it's too small in my opinion.
the 14" is like a regular laptop screen ...
however i am always wondering why everything has to be so big :) at work we work with these huge screens, it hurts my eyes ... there's too much going on on those screens that i get a headache of it after a few hours.
i have the ibook G4 one 14" screen, i love it :)
Monkey Bizzle 02-13-2005, 02:53 AM i suppose 14 is not that bad, i was more talking about the 12" screens. i have a bad habit of not typing what i am thinking... and then assume everyone will know what i mean!!
