I come across the following symbols / fonts(?) & they all starts with a '&' and ends with a ';'

So I wonder :
1) Are they one type of something?
2)If so, what's that something called?
3) Where can I find a list of them?

Those things are used for example on blogger.com because a normal copy sign could be have weird signs with them when publishing it on blogger.com So when typing the HTML code of the sign it willb e published like you want it to be without nasty signs near them.

I only know how to do the heart & club ones, is there a symbol too for the other 2 symbol in a deck of cards? like the diamond & whatever-it-is-called?

'cause the list u gave me only has those with &numbers ;
not the &words ; like ♥ (& hearts ; -without spacing) ♣ (& clubs ; -without spacing)
