I want to stay at around 50$ tops if that's possible.
So tell what you got, what you like about it and what you don't.
Thanky :)
Makar 01-10-2005, 02:43 PM Well...I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I don't even own a webcam, but whenever I'm lookin' around for computer-related stuff, CNET is the place to go.

Logitech seems like a good brand (I have a wireless mouse from them), and their webcams are affordable and've got good ratings too. :)

I saw that one and liked it, i may spring for it anyways, i just don't want to spend that much for something i will never use. I'll go shopping on my trip and see what I can see.
I looked for that and it's 70$ here at bestbuy, i'll shop around.
Thanky :)

logroll 01-10-2005, 06:38 PM Lol, I don't have a webcam, wish I did though :)
Karen_ 01-10-2005, 08:52 PM Web cams scare me. People just watching me? Creepy. I like being the one who watches others though. :P
I bought my dad a webcam for xmas. It was $39 and it was horrible! So I bought another one at staples after boxing day for $39, marked down from $79. It's actually pretty good. http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=,&webid=580527&affixedcode=WW it's not on sale anymore... I don't think I would pay that price for it to be honest.
Logitech seems to be a good brand.
Marianne 01-10-2005, 08:59 PM I hate to see myself on the webcam - I always think I look so awful. Guess I just hate pictures of myself period.
Dude128 01-10-2005, 09:10 PM Guess I just hate pictures of myself period.
I'm the same way- and I wouldn't use a webcam live for fear of doing something horribly embarrassing- or at least something that looks embarrassing (low resolution images seem to have a way of doing that)- but I may post some random pictures of myself or just whoever/whatever's around at the time or something during the blogathon-type thing this weekend :P
thezeppzone 01-10-2005, 09:17 PM I actually just bought mine like 1 1/2 weeks ago at meijer, for $30, using my xmas gift cards....its a labtec, i like it, fits in with my labtec speakers and soon to be labtec mouse and keyboard lol...anyways...
http://www.labtec.com/index.cfm/gear/details/AMR/EN,crid=30,contentid=675
it has mic, still shot button, motion detection, all that jazz...so yeah..
starlet 01-10-2005, 11:38 PM i prefer mine live....i think i look odd in pictures...but i dont know how to do streaming for a website
Rosey 01-11-2005, 10:41 PM so do you have to sign up on some website to make it live or can you put it on yours. This is going to be so much fun figuring this out last minute with family needed this that and the other.....w00t!!!
SUPER RP06 02-12-2005, 09:27 PM I got a digital camera that can act as a webcam.
How can I make the camera to go online and put the image on a website? (you did this when you hosted "LEIA mods wake..." something "...asia", where you can stay awake for 24 hours.)
Chris 02-12-2005, 09:33 PM In my opinion, Logitech is the best brand to get if you are looking for quality at reasonable prices. I don't have a cam myslef, so I'm no expert but I think Logitech are one of the best names around.

if it can act as a webcam then just download a webcam software online (example: www.download.com ) and install it and run the program. it should ask for FTP information and find the camera. If it doesn't find it then there's another option:
this option i used for the tsunami appeal because i didn't got a webcam. I just took photo's with my webcam, put them on my laptop and resized them to 320x240 and then uploaded them as cam.jpg to the directory "tsunami" i had back then. it just replace the old picture with the new one so it automatically updated on the website itself. this is also the method i use for my own site.
Love,
Mirna
I once found a webcam for £10 but I don`t know how it would go into $...
