Hello all, I am new to this site and I am starting to build my own homepage/ website. I have knowledge of HTML coding and was wondering what would be easier in the overall designing of it, using HTML code for it all or using a WYSIWYG tool such as Dreamweaver to design and create the site? Thanks in advance.

That's a matter of opinion... I use both ways, but many people prefer html.. other WYSIWYG... Sorry this is not a big help is it?
Thanks for the reply, I am just wondering what are people views on the topic and to see what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing it both ways? :)

I like coding HTML by hand because then you know what's in the code, so if you have to fix it or there's a problem it's easier to do :) It also gives more practice with HTML and you can become more familiar with it. I never really understood how to use Dreamweaver and all that stuff to begin with, coding was easier. I guess an advantage of WYSIWYG is that it would be quicker and less work.

for the overall design dreamweaver is better cuz u can basically build your site just from the way it looks, but u need to learn htmlso u can tweak your code if theres problems... so once u become more knowledgeable in html codeing and design, its worth is to learn dreamweaver

My vote would most likely go to HTML because you get more credibility. i once used dreamweaver for my comp sci class and all we did was drag and drop. its not very challenging and i think that you might lose credibility to your webdesigning if you use dreamweaver instead of taking the time to practice HTML. just my thoughts, I can still understand why some people might want to choose Dreamweaver instead.

dreamweaver is for professional webdesigns, myself code all the html by myself cuz i find it more enjoyable and u can actually say "YES i did this all by myself" but when i cant figure out a table i head over to dreamweaver and sort out the problem

My opinion would be to do it in HTML, I find it easier that way because Dreamweaver just gets righ up my nose and its so hard to work with along with FrontPage Express, etc!

Well, I'm new to HTML and I'm still a bit befuddled, but I decided to download DreamWeaver off the internet and it's still downloading as we speak. But I'm sooo confused with the HTML, I've read through Lissa's explaination twice, and I'm stil lost. But I've used Microsoft FrontPage in school in my web design class before - I wouldn't recommend it. It's pretty mediocre.
But anyway - back to my point - I think HTML is confusing... I applaud all of you for knowing/learning it.
