What is it with the GBA SP? I got one too, and I was just at a girl's site and she said she got one for her brother, and one of her commenters said they got one too!

I got that, and a game for it, and a case. I haven't gone to my mom and dad's yet so I don't know what I got from them. Hopefully somewhere in there I'll get The Sims 2. All I really wanted for Christmas was the GBA SP, a certain game, The Sims 2, and Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory. So far I got all but The Sims 2.

Sphere, like me, lives in the Netherlands. Not every country celebrates X-mas primarily with presents.

Its a tradition here, that we give presents with Saint Nicholas, and people don't have that much money to give presents twice a month. Saint Nicholas is more for kids.

But we didn't celebrate that actually too but what i said i don't realy mis it

i kind of wish i lived in the netherlands [or anywhere where christmas is not so commercialized] because it's annoying how here it's so customary & expected to give presents. and i used to be so excited for presents but for the past few weeks it just didn't seem that important anymore. and i can't help but feel bad/spoiled when i'm opening the presents.. meh. but.. here's what i got anyway:

from my parents&sister:

-a lovelllly green cashmere sweater i've had my eye on for a while
-the green zipup hoodie that i wanted! [in the christmas list thing thread] no, not the one that was $118 ;)
-a very cute long sleeved green shirt that i also liked a lot!

^all from jcrew of course

-an awesome guitar book with a bazillion rock songs.. it's so coool!
-another guitar book with riffs and other awesomely cool things
-realllly comfortable headphones because my other ones don't work in one ear

and then my friends got me [we did secret santa so we just had one person give us good stuff- less money ;)]
-a cute green polo shirt
-siamese dream [smashing pumpkins CD]!
-candy
-an edward scissorhands journal!

yes i was very fortunate this year :) gosh the clothes from my parents were soo expensive though! i'll probably end up returning something because we don't have that much money to spend right now.

yup, us dutchables are perfectly happy without Christmas gifts, right, Mirna?

We went to my in-laws today, and my mother-in-law had gotten us some small gifts, I got oven gloves, which is handy :)

I agree with salomeyasobko. I don't get that excited about Christmas anymore.
I got
-4 sweaters (3 of which are pink. I have so much pink stuff now. I have to return two though because they don't fit)
-A blazer (pink)
-pearl necklece (pink pearls mind you)
-stand for my oboe and english horn
-english horn swab
-3rd Harry Potter movie
-"essays for the oboist" (a book)
-$100 from Grandma
-Symphonie Fantastique CD
I didn't really ask for a lot of specific things this year. Except for the CD and a yellow sweater. I used to be so excited about Christmas but its different now. It's more fun when your younger because once you grow up you don't really want really FUN things, you want practical things and can generally buy them for yourself if need be.

EDIT:

I forgot, I also got a Beethoven action figure. Complete with a bench. I need to download the "fold up" piano for him.

My presents:
Nancy Drew computer games! (1 and 2)
Little Japanese Dolls (made of wood and you can put little kimonos and faces on them)
Walkie-talkies
A China Doll in a silk kimono that came in a beautiful box with a book written about a girl in China.
A spy gadget that hears far away sounds. No more people whispering behind my back!
A stylish navy/black purse.
A lavendar photo album. (lavendar is my favorite color) :D

Anyways, that's pretty much it! Merry Christmas everyone!

I think our culture is just less materialistic - that would indeed be the total amount you get on a birthday.
And for Sinterklaas... well, that's really more about the poems and get-together than about the financial value of the presents. But in the States they are used to far bigger/more expensive presents - so compared to her friends, that is probably considered 'not spoilt', while we think of it as 'very spoilt' ;)
I'm quite happy we don't really do presents on that scale here - it would make me feel awful if I could not afford them really and yet it was expected of me.

ehh people can't control who gives them what, and in my opinion, i think it's unfair [and abit unkind] of you to say that someone you don't even know [to my knowledge] is spoiled.. especially since you're quite well off yourself

it just seems like there's been a lot of random unnecessary harshness lately..

- Two C.D.s (Something Corporate & Blink-182)

Relatives - Model Car, Sports Watch, $15 Best Buy Gift Card, and $50 Cash
Family - Clothes, 4 Dvds(Shrek 1-2, Shanghai Noon-Knights), Ornament, Electric Toothbrush-Thingy, Electric Razor(But I already have one my sister didnt know about so we have to return it), $25 Meijer Gift Card, and $50 Cash

I didn't give my mom any ideas, plus i just got a $1600 saxophone last month, so that could have been my Christmas present, but that would make for a crappy day today, but I got some things, like I said, I wasn't expecting much, but it's been a good day, besides having a cold, ugh.

The two big things were a cell phone and a portable DVD player. The cell phone was technically free, my mum just added me to her plan so we wouldn't have to do the whole switching around "Oh, I'll have the cell phone today and you'll take it tomorrow" thing anymore. My brother got a cell phone too, since he's going off to college and will probably actually need it.

And the DVD players are because my parents are like wee little children. Well, my mum is at least. Apparently she got them back in October and couldn't wait to tell us about them.

I was so not into the holidays this year and I've been in a generally bad mood for a while now, please forgive the sarcastic, "that doesn't sound very grateful" comments :P

-Laptop case (which doesn't fit my laptop)
-Suitcase-ish/duffel bag thing (which is about the same size as the one I have, thus pointless)
-A couple clothing items (that I know I won't wear but my mom insists on buying anyway)
-More candy than I know what to do with (especially after my dentist appointment the other day, apparently I have cavities like you wouldn't believe)
-$25 Rite-Aid (of all places- it's a drug store for those that don't know, I don't know how widespread the company is) gift card
-2 books: To Engineer Is Human and The Existensial Pleasures of Engineering
-Cash

and my birthday is in 3 days, so I'll probably just get more cash, considering I didn't even ask for anything at all other than a laptop case for Christmas.

but the family got together as usual, some members of which I haven't seen in quite a while, so that was alright (and hey, that's supposed to be what matters, right?)

I didnt get too much, but then you get less as you get older :P
I never ever ever got half the stuff you lot have though when i was a kid...dont think my parents ever spent more than £100 on me for xmas (normally itd be about £50)...i see people say they got a laptop and think 'Waaaaa? wow they must be rich' and they they continue to roll off other stuff they got AS WELL and i nearly faint
Times have certainly changed, if i ever have kids they will have like a £50 limit for xmas and brithdays (that about $100, so its not mean, its just not ridiculous!!)

Anyhoo, on to what i got...i got lots of little bits and bobs really, like choccy, bits of makeup, candles and bath stuffs. Got a lovely pink glove/scarf set, some perfume some pink fluffy slippers and a light shade
My 'main' gifts were a poncho (le gasp, i finally got a poncho) and a pink fluffy throw :D

My brother + his girlfriend got me a hot water bottle cover, some makeup, some nail varnish and a mirror.

Thats the only people who buy for me, parents and brother....no other family members do.

I'll be getting my boyfriends pressy later today...although i dont think it came yet actually!

I want a car :P

I've been looking for one and haven't found anything decent that I can afford, but my brother may be selling his car to me fairly cheap, once he gets a new one (which should be fairly soon). I may soon be the proud owner of a 1988 Honda Accord LX complete with sort of bad paint and plenty of old-car sqeaks and such. whatever, it runs, is in decent mechanical shape (the transmission is less than a couple years old- I don't remember exactly when he got it), and it has relatively low miles, apparently :P

My brother just bought a brand new car and I get to use it whenever I want in the summer because he's in the navy and will be on a boat somewhere :P He doesn't know about this arrangement yet, but since it will be in my driveway I've decided it's mine.

Yay... I feel very spoiled this year. I got so much. And I feel rather bad about it. My family is not rich at all and they gave me lots of expensive gifts.

Parents:
-$50 dollar debit card
-PJs
-Lava Lamp Night Light (yeah... it is the most random thing ever)
-Mini Backpack
-iPod Mini
-$105 worth of iTunes songs
-Hats
-Weird CD

Other Family:
-$50 to best buy
-$70
-$50
-Expensive profesional colored pencil set
-Sun glasses
-$20 to target
-$30 to bath and body works

That is the most money I have ever gotten.

The iPod is insane. I like it so much. At first I was really freaked out because I have herd bad things about it. But, I love mine.

Presents are nice. And I was blessed this year. But I would be fine without them. I honestly think I would almost feel more happy without them because I wouldn't feel bad about expensive presents.

Hmmm.......I don't think I was *too* spoilt this year....Or maybe I was.

- extended versions of Lord of the Rings (all three!!!! YES! haha...this was my favourite present :P I am such a geek)
- one Piers Anthony book
- two tops- one I like one I don't :P
- a painting I did framed
- cordless phone for my room
- cheap webcam :D
- 50$ for a snowboarding/skiing store- except, the boarding pants I want are like $150 :(
- LED little flashlight/reading light thing for reading in the dark (bwahahahahaha)
- one of those more expensive charm bracelet thingies from my guy friend that I've known since I was two or three...aww, he's so sweet
- chocolate
- underwear ( :hehe: )
- pencil crayons (stocking gift O.O)

Ummmm, I think that's about it. What I really wanted was Sims 2, but I guess I'll have to buy that myself in Boxing Day sales :D
