I was looking around town yesterday, and around my house and was surprised at the number of "xmas" 's there were.

I never (or hardly ever) write "xmas", whether its on LEIA, MSN, or writing. I think that it totally dismisses the actual point of Christmas. Christ!

Anyone else feel the same?

Thanks,
Chris :D

Nope, because the X stands for Christ :P

Although to be honest, i wouldnt mind if it didnt...xmas is just easier to write/type because its shorter :P

huh, I never knew that! Someone once told me that X was taking Christ out of Christmas. Now I don't have as much of a problem with it ;)

Yeah... I used to always think that xmas was bad too. Because when you think of X you think of no... bad... wrong... I guess. I think I just found out that it wasn't bad when my pastor did some speach about it.

someone said once that the X perhaps symbolizes the cross beared by Christ (if you want to still keep that aspect in the gist of things).

I only knew about it because of when Christina Aguilara changed her name to Xtina lol

Ah, Greek letters. ^_^

I don't use it. At least, not very often.

I was watching "The View" a few years ago, and they were discussing this, they thought xmas was wrong, unless labelling a small box of xmas decorations. That was the first and last time I watched that show lol.

Wow, I never knew that either. I remember my mother writing a paper about it for something a long time ago...but I always thought...well, I didn't know. :P

Don't worry...I thought that to till I found out a couple weeks ago.

:) If you look at this X sideways, it does look like a cross. Neat.

I still like to write the word Christmas though. Even if it is a little longer to write. Seeing the word Christ in it, is nice.

I don't have much of a problem with xmas, but I prefer Christmas.

i prefer writting Christmas because Christmas is (suposed to be anyway...) all about Jesus coming down to earth is it not?

:) imo of course

That's what I thought too, until last Christmas when someone told me :)
