There are usually moderators around, so they will get to the problem. If it's something you feel needs immediate attention, you can always report it.

Well, it is ok to tell people stuff every now and then. But, most of the time you can just leave it to the moderators and they will get everything done that needs to be done :P

personally, i don't think there is anything wrong with putting someone in their place if you catch them doing it. I have been called out a few times by one of the mods for being to "mod-like" but I say what's the big deal? I have been here long enough to know the rules of the forum and what's right and wrong and if I see someone breaking a rule, I am going to mention to them, hey, don't do that.

3 months, begging, and just over 200 hundred posts isn't going to get you to moderator status. lissa has A LOT of mods... and prolly doesn't need more.

i don't want to be a mod, and that's not why i correct people. i do it cause they should follow the rules.

Some people have been here 3 years and still arent moderators, thats not how it works ^^

As for 'backseat' modding as i call it, theres no need to do it...a moderator will get to something soon enough anyway and if its urgent, as Lefty said, report it and it will be taken care of immediately...i don't like other people telling others off etc...but as long as it's done politely then it's ok i guess.
So...going round picking at every little thing people are doing and telling them they broke a rule etc is just annoying and likely to get you edited/deleted rather than the person you are telling off! Occasionally and nicely telling someone they shouldnt keep doing something theyve been doing...ok then.

Yeah I have to agree as well. I used to welcome all the newbs and tell them "hi just incase you're wondering you need this many posts for an avatar and arcade...." like that but I was told that i wasn't allowed, so I don't do that anymore. :P

::rolls eyes::

what harm is it in giving someone an FYI? so you don't tell them and then they just start a whole new thread about it...

I guess it really depends on who says it and how they say it, and it depends on our mood when we read it. But yes, we do have enough moderators to cover the entire forum, so no need to act all moddish when you're not a mod.
However, if you tell people things in a friendly and tactful way, nobody takes offence.

I might add that the kind of things that are said in this thread, are usually a guaranteed way to NEVER become a mod... just so you know...

oh wow...I like just did this like...maybe half an hour ago. I wasn't trying to be moddish...it just kind of annoys me when someone expects an answer instantly and posts "ANYONE! PLEASE!" ten minutes later....I think I did it in a tactful way though...I tried to be nice about it...wow...I feel super bad now...

I don't see a problem if you act like that every once in a while, but doing it too many times may lead to trouble.

I don't see that as a problem if you tell them polite. Some people are screaming that they don't get an answer in ten minutes. they forget that there are not thousands of people online and people who doesn't know the solution won't answer.

I don't have problems if someones telling somebody else if he's wrong but some people do it very very often, i call them "wanabe mods" and i don't like those people

there's one thing people shouldn't be doing though. And that's telling a n00b that they posted in the wrong forum. The result of that will be that the n00b will be posted in several forums the same posts. Just leave it to us mods, and we'll take care of it and move it. No need to tell them they are wrong because new people like that often panic and post in the right forum instead or in all the forumss they 'think' it should belong in.

Do keep in mind that mod's aren't online 24/7 and we live in different parts of the world so it all takes time to go through everything on the forum. I know not all people have the patience to wait a day for it to get fixed ..

If you are referring to this (http://www.lissaexplains.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67645) thread, I don't think you ought to feel bad about it, you did tell them in a tactful manner. I personally don't have a problem with the type of response you gave there to an impatient noob.
Like I said, it really depends on how things are being said, if it is said by a member who already got on our nerves, we will be a lot less tolerant to 'moddish' behaviour than when it is a well liked, polite and helpful member that tells off someone else - and it depends on our own mood too (and that can change by the day ;) )

 Marianne is right.. if you have a 3-page thread about you in the Private section, being moddish isn't the way to go :evil laugh: But really, depends on the mood and such, just be nice even if the other person is a jerk! :duh:
