View Full Version : i want to use my own 'font'
hafunui 11-23-2004, 07:13 PM I want to make my own font to use for a personal use web site, but since i dont have a font creating program and i'm broke, i thought i could use images. i can, but i dont want to have to enter a thousand image codes.
is there an easyer way to do this? can i class the letter image, then have a code use them by typing the class name? (sorry if that didnt make sence)
If anyone has a program to make fonts, and is willing to make this a computer font for me, here is an image of it, if it'd help.

Monkey Bizzle 11-23-2004, 08:29 PM why don't you just download a font?
try www.dafont.com and then look in the pixel/bitmap category!
hafunui 11-23-2004, 08:59 PM i will if i cant find any other soutions...
Monkey Bizzle 11-24-2004, 02:02 AM Well, just so you know, there is no way for someone who doesn't have that font installed to be able to see it. You can embed fonts but that only works in Internet Explorer. You could offer the font for download on your site with a note telling visitors that they need it to view your page correctly.
PinoBabe13 11-25-2004, 12:53 AM That's kinda what your font looks like. Plus, a whole bunch of people already have it on their computers.

i dont have redenseck installed.
it may not be a common one for alot of people.
MaGiCSuN 11-25-2004, 03:09 PM me neither.
you could however offer it for a download on your site. Like something like this:
"Best viewed with redensek. If you haven't got that and want to see this site like it should then download here"
then just specify a second font in your css to make sure that you have a proper second choice when people dont' want to download it. But beside that, i don't think you really know how hard it is to make an actual font. It's handdrawn letter by letter each time, so it takes up more then just a few days :)

Silence4me2 11-25-2004, 06:54 PM I have a question... All the fonts on www.dafont.com, other people have to have it downloaded too(a font u use from there), in order for them to see it?
I know you'll were talking bout that, but I'm not sure you were talking bout that website.
MaGiCSuN 11-25-2004, 08:12 PM nope, i don't know how they did that on that site, but you don't need to have all those fonts on your own computer in order to see them all. Normally font site's uses images, but on dafont.com you can aswell change the text into the text you like to see the 'results' and i don't have a clue how they managed to do that :)

Silence4me2 11-25-2004, 09:29 PM Ok, thx for the help.
hafunui 11-26-2004, 12:19 AM this is just a site that i'll use for displaying a whole bunck of links for myself with descriptions, for those links i bookmarked. in other words no one will see it but me, so i know about the other-people-can't-see-the-font stuff.
i found one that looked like what i had one Dafont.com.
i guess thats it then........
