it's been a loooong while since i've had time to do the website thing ... but its spring break now and i have a few days to finally RELAX! woohoo! anyhow, all i'm wanting is a basic web host that i can have pictures on. nothing fancy whatsoever ... just a bunch of pictures to show my friends outta state and such. can someone recommend a good one? heck it can even be a template site! ha ... suggestions are strongly appreciated - just as long as it isn't too expensive! thank you!

do you want a domain name or just a free host. Heres some free hosts:
www.geocities.com
www.tripod.com
www.angelfire.com
nahh i could care less about a domain. ha .. just an all around good host. i was with bravenet awhile ago and i always encountered problems when trying to upload more than like 5 pictures. is there a certain host you would recommend out of those three ??

geocities, it is the one i've always worked with. despite a small popup on your site. yep, geocites.

I personally recomend against all 3, becuase they are quite slow and annoying. And there's the popups, whitch make it slower.

try http://www.brinkster.com - it has a free plan ansd no ads. And it's pretty easy to use, but it doesnt have templates, if you want them.

If brinkster, for whatever reason doesnt appeal to you, go with geocities, as its BY FAR better then angelfire. And anything to do with lycos is just plain crap, so stay away from tripod.

Thanks for the information ~! But let me just check one more thing ...

I basically just want one main opening screen with links to a bunch of picture pages and such ..

Will the free plan on brinkster cover this ? Or do I need to pay a little bit of money for a better package ?

Sorry to sound so dumb .. I get so confused with all that bandwidth, data transfer stuff ... especially not being on here in so long!

just the free package. It is only basic stuff you want to use. Only if you want PHP, CGI or use SSI or something like that you need to pay money for it on most site's

All html can be used on free servers! so just sign up for the free service and have fun with it. NEVER pay money for it, unless you really need some CGI scripts or Perl and PHP... but with HTML you can make gorgeous things

i would suggest checking out http://www.lissaexplains.com/ she has all kinds of html online that can be used on all site's (free and paid) unless she say's "you need PHP or you need Perl" etc with it
