Everytime I download b2 or greymatter, it works out fine. But then when I try to open the .cgi files, windows won't let me. Its so weird... Does anyone know how I can open the .cgi files on windows? Thanks.

Also, how do you use a mysql database? I know how to set one up, but what actually is the purpose? Thanks.

ok try right clicking the file then click open with and use notepad to open it that should work

databases of any kind just store data- in the case of a blog, it stores all the posts, user information, etc.
