lol are they just the same thing? I'm looking for a host with ASP, but this one host I found, they have ChiliSoft ASP. So is that what I'm looking for?

they make me sign up. and when I tried, they don't accept free email. That's all I have, I haven't bought the host yet so I don't have an email. Do you mind just post the answer here in this forum?

yup, it's different to real ASP on windows servers. you don't have all the functionality of real ASP such as Access databases and CDONTS for email etc, but you can apparently use Chilisoft ASP with MySQL databases (never tried it myself). although Chilisoft ASP + MySQL should work, many *nix web hosts don't know how to do this and can't or won't provide support for it and very few windows hosts provide MySQL as well - that leaves you kinda stuck if you find your web host [stinks].

i provide hosting on windows and *nix servers and i chose not to instal chilisoft ASP on the *nix servers because of the compatibility problems with real ASP. i get a lot of windows hosting customers coming from other *nix based hosts with Chilisoft ASP because people don't realise chilisoft ASP isn't 100% compatible with windows ASP until it's too late and many web hosts install chilisoft ASP and can't or won't provide full support for it.

there's another version of ASP on *nix servers as well - can't think what it's called now, but again, any version of ASP on *nix just isn't 100% compatible with ASP on windows.

stick to this as a general rule:
windows hosting for ASP + Access databases
*nix hosting for PHP + MySQL database
these are the most common server / scripting / database combinations. if you stick to these, you can't go far wrong. if your web host [stinks], you can move very easily.
